Order bigger than Mahindra’s entire FY25 export volume
Single-cab Scorpio Pik Ups to power Indonesia’s ambitious rural cooperative network
From Nashik to Nusantara, these workhorses will carry the weight of national food security
Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has just shifted into a higher gear on the global stage, announcing its largest export order in history. The Indian auto major will supply 35,000 units of the Scorpio Pik Up to Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise, during 2026.
To put that number in perspective: this single order is bigger than Mahindra’s total exports in FY25. In export terms, that’s not a deal—it’s a full-blown convoy.

The vehicles will be deployed under Indonesia’s Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) project, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening village-level cooperatives and transforming rural logistics. In simpler terms, these Scorpio Pik Ups will become the unsung heroes moving food from farms to markets—basically doing the real-world version of “farm to table”, minus the Instagram filters.
From farm tracks to national impact
Under the partnership, Mahindra and Agrinas Pangan Nusantara will jointly equip thousands of cooperatives across Indonesia with robust transport solutions. The goal: ensure smooth movement of fresh produce from farmers directly to consumers, cutting inefficiencies and improving rural incomes.
These Pik Ups will handle:
- First-mile aggregation – collecting produce directly from farms
- Intra-village logistics – moving goods within cooperative networks
- Last-mile delivery – connecting villages to local markets
In short, if there’s a muddy road, a broken trail, or a “this shouldn’t even be called a road” situation—this truck is expected to show up and quietly get the job done.
Mahindra speaks: serious intent, light on drama
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:
“We are looking forward to this association and to supporting Indonesia’s Koperasi through our partnership with Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. By deploying the Scorpio Pik Ups as part of the Koperasi, we are strengthening a reliable logistics backbone that connects farmers to markets more efficiently. Our Pik Ups are engineered to perform in tough conditions while keeping operating costs to a minimum. The volume committed for this partnership will significantly boost our International Operations—adding as much as our total export volumes achieved in FY25. In line with Mahindra’s Rise philosophy, this collaboration reflects our commitment to enabling prosperity and supporting national priorities.”
Built in Nashik, headed for nation-building
All 35,000 units will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Nashik plant, reinforcing India’s growing role as a global export hub for utility vehicles.
The Scorpio Pik Up is already well-known in international markets for:
- High payload capacity
- Strong body-on-frame durability
- Low total cost of ownership
- Ability to survive roads that Google Maps refuses to recognise
Which makes it a near-perfect fit for rural Indonesia, where logistics is less about horsepower and more about survivability.
Why this deal really matters
Beyond the headline numbers, this order marks:
- A major leap for Mahindra’s international business
- A strong government-to-government style partnership
- A real-world example of how automotive exports can drive food security and rural development
So while most export stories talk about market share and revenue curves, this one is about something more tangible—moving vegetables, grains, and livelihoods across thousands of villages.
Not every pickup truck gets to say it helped feed a nation. The Scorpio Pik Up now can.
