New Delhi: BYD India has announced that its all-electric predator, the BYD Sealion 7 Premium variant, will now cost ₹50,000 more starting January 1, 2026. The Performance variant, however, escapes the New Year’s inflation diet untouched — perhaps already too powerful to be messed with.
The company clarified that customers who book the SUV on or before 31st December 2025 will still enjoy the old prices, giving buyers one last festive-season excuse to say, “Bas ek aur booking kar deta hoon.” From New Year’s Day onward, all fresh bookings will reflect the revised pricing.
According to BYD, the price adjustment mirrors ongoing investments in technology, safety, and customer experience — essentially ensuring the Sealion 7 continues roaring with premium credentials rather than meowing under cost pressure.
Adding to the announcement, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, said, “The updated pricing reflects evolving cost dynamics while continuing to offer customers a compelling premium electric SUV proposition.” With over 2,300 units sold across India, the Sealion 7 is clearly finding pride of place in EV-loving households.
The SUV has also been collecting awards like a diligent school topper:
- Excellence in Battery Technology by Motoring World
- Luxury Mid-Size SUV – The One That Matters (TOTM) by Acko Drive
Built on BYD’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) architecture and powered by its global-famous Blade Battery, the Sealion 7 scores a 5-Star Euro NCAP rating, proving that safety is as serious as its performance.
Under the hood (well, metaphorically), the numbers remain fierce:
- Performance Variant: 390 kW, 690 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds
- Premium Variant: 230 kW, 380 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 6.7 seconds
- Certified Range: Up to 567 km (NEDC)
Meanwhile, BYD continues its quirky-yet-coveted customer programme — One BYD Infinite Connections — where lucky customers get a golden ticket to visit BYD’s NEV innovation and testing facilities in Zhengzhou, China. Think of it as a “Willy Wonka EV Factory Tour,” minus the chocolate but with more battery chemistry.
With 47 showrooms across 40 cities, BYD India is expanding its footprint faster than many ICE cars can accelerate. Globally, the company has sold over 15 million NEVs, helping cut 121 billion kilograms of CO₂ — roughly equal to the work of 2.03 billion trees. Not surprisingly, BYD continues climbing charts, bagging a spot among Kantar BrandZ’s Top 10 Most Valuable Global Automotive Brands and ranking #91 on the 2025 Fortune Global 500.
As India accelerates toward an electric future, BYD India says it remains committed to customer-first growth, sustainability, and bringing more futuristic products to the market… even if they occasionally arrive with a slightly updated price tag.
