Hyundai Shifts Gears Into Taxi Business: Prime HB & Prime SD Promise More Earnings per Kilometre

Gurugram: After conquering Indian driveways, parking lots and weekend getaways, Hyundai Motor India Limited has now set its sights on a new battleground—the daily grind of commercial mobility. The company has officially entered the taxi segment with the launch of its purpose-built Prime Taxi Range, comprising the Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan).

Think of it as Hyundai telling fleet operators, “Relax, we’ve got your back—and your mileage.”

Built for Long Days, Longer Runs

Designed specifically for taxi operators and fleet owners, the Prime HB and Prime SD combine Hyundai’s trusted reliability with a sharp focus on earnings, uptime and low running costs. Both models are powered by the proven 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder engine, available with Petrol + factory-fitted CNG, ensuring lower fuel bills and happier accountants.

Bookings are now open across all Hyundai dealerships in India at a token amount of ₹5,000—roughly the cost of a few full CNG refills, but with far bigger returns.

Prices That Mean Business

Hyundai has kept things refreshingly practical:

  • Prime HB: starting at ₹5.99 lakh
  • Prime SD: starting at ₹6.89 lakh

(Ex-showroom, of course—because even taxis like transparency.)

Warranty That Works Overtime

Understanding that taxis don’t believe in weekends, Hyundai is offering special extended warranty options for the 4th and 5th year / up to 1,80,000 km, tailored for high-usage vehicles. With a claimed total cost of ownership of just 47 paise per km, the Prime range seems keen to ensure drivers earn more while worrying less.

Flexible finance options with repayment tenures of up to 72 months further sweeten the deal, especially for first-time entrepreneurs entering the taxi business.

Safety, Comfort & ‘Passenger Please Smile’ Features

The Prime HB and Prime SD come generously equipped—because a comfortable passenger is a generous tipper. Key highlights include:

  • 6 airbags
  • Rear AC vents
  • 4 power windows
  • Steering-mounted audio controls
  • Driver seat height adjustment
  • Rear parking sensors & emergency stop signal
  • Company-fitted Speed Limiting Function (80 km/h)

In short, everything needed to keep drivers alert, passengers relaxed and city traffic slightly more bearable.

Efficiency That Pays Per Kilometre

Fuel efficiency remains the star of the show:

  • Prime SD: 28.40 km/kg (CNG)
  • Prime HB: 27.32 km/kg (CNG)

Numbers that fleet operators will likely remember better than their own birthdays.

Accessories for the Modern Taxi

Optional accessories include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, rear camera and a 3-year warranty, along with a vehicle location tracking device (VLTD) with four panic buttons—because safety and compliance are non-negotiable.

Colours & Confidence

The Prime Taxi range is available in Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black—classic shades that suit both city streets and long highway hauls.

The Road Ahead

With the launch of Prime HB and Prime SD, Hyundai is clearly signalling that it wants a slice of India’s ever-growing commercial mobility market. Backed by its vast service network, trained fleet care advisors and a reputation for hassle-free ownership, Hyundai’s latest move could well turn daily rides into dependable revenue machines.

After all, when every kilometre counts, Hyundai wants to make sure each one earns its keep—quietly, comfortably, and with a little less drama on the road.
