Hyundai Creta Breaks All Records in 2025, Crosses 2 Lakh Annual Sales and Redefines SUV Stardom Yet Again

If there were an attendance register for Indian roads, the Hyundai Creta would be marked “Present”—every single day. Closing calendar year 2025 on a record-breaking note, Hyundai Motor India Limited announced that its blockbuster mid-size SUV, the Creta, has achieved its highest-ever annual sales of over 2,00,000 units in a single calendar year.

Put simply, that’s an average of 550 Cretas sold every day—or one Creta roughly every three minutes—quietly reminding rivals that consistency is also a performance metric.

A Decade Old, Still Setting the Pace

As the Creta completes 10 years in India, it continues to do what it has done best since launch: dominate. Over the last five years cumulatively, it has remained India’s best-selling SUV, and in CY2025 alone, it commanded a mighty 34%+ market share in the fiercely contested mid-size SUV segment.

Despite a flood of new launches, facelifts, and “segment-disruptors,” the Creta has continued to define the segment it helped create, clocking an impressive CAGR of over 9% between 2016 and 2025. Clearly, age is just a number—especially when you’re this fit.

Customers Evolving, Creta Adapting

Commenting on the milestone, Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO Designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said the Creta’s journey in India has been “nothing short of extraordinary.”

And the numbers back him up. First-time buyers now account for 32% of Creta customers in 2025, up sharply from 13% in 2020. Aspirations have also gone skyward—quite literally—with sunroof-equipped variants contributing over 70% of sales this year. Diesel, meanwhile, continues to hold its ground strongly, contributing 44% of total Creta sales.

In short, today’s Creta buyer wants efficiency, comfort, technology, and a panoramic view of the sky—preferably all at once.

One Name, Many Personalities

A big reason behind Creta’s sustained success is its buffet-style powertrain menu. Customers can choose from:

  • 1.5-litre MPi petrol (MT & IVT)
  • 1.5-litre CRDi diesel (MT & AT)
  • 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol (MT & DCT)
  • And now, electric, because the future doesn’t wait

Available in both ICE and EV avatars, the Creta has evolved into a genuinely future-ready brand while staying rooted in what Indian customers value most—reliability, comfort, and peace of mind.

The Creta Effect

Since launch, the Creta has been the highest-selling mid-size SUV in India in every completed year, turning itself into less of a model and more of a benchmark. Performance, comfort, technology, resale value, and trust—Creta manages to tick all the boxes without making a fuss about it.

As CY2025 wraps up, one thing is clear:
The Hyundai Creta isn’t just selling well—it’s setting the pace, year after year, and doing so with the calm confidence of an SUV that knows it’s already won the long game.
