MINI Convertible Goes Topless and Sold Out in 24 Hours, India Says ‘More Please’

Gurugram: Blink and you missed it. The first batch of the all-new MINI Convertible has officially sold out in India within just 24 hours of its launch on December 12, 2025, turning showroom excitement into instant scarcity. Priced at ₹58.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and brought in as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the open-top MINI proved that when it comes to style, sunshine and spirited driving, demand can be as quick as the roof mechanism itself.

For those who didn’t manage to beat the clock, MINI India has confirmed that bookings for the next phase of deliveries will open shortly, with arrivals expected early next year. Until then, patience will be the only accessory missing from many wardrobes.

Commenting on the rapid sell-out, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said, “That was quick! The speed at which the all-new MINI Convertible sold underscores how strongly our community resonates with irresistible design and a genuinely fun, authentic driving experience. We anticipated excitement, but this immediate embrace of the MINI lifestyle has been extraordinary. MINI owners don’t follow trends, they carve their own path, top down.” Judging by the response, many customers were clearly ready to carve that path without waiting for traffic signals.

The all-new MINI Convertible stays true to its roots while embracing modern tech. Its exterior carries unmistakable MINI design cues, complemented by standard LED headlights with three selectable light signatures and 18-inch aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels in Slide Spoke or Flash Spoke two-tone designs. The signature black soft top can be fully opened in just 18 seconds and closed in 15 seconds, or partially slid back by 40 cm to act as a sunroof—regardless of speed—because waiting for signals is clearly not MINI’s thing.

Inside, the cabin blends retro charm with digital flair. Clean lines, minimalist controls and the striking round high-resolution OLED display—called the MINI Interaction Unit—take centre stage. It combines the instrument cluster and infotainment screen into one visually arresting hub. Voice commands are handled by the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant, activated with a simple “Hey MINI,” while the MINI Digital Key Plus turns your smartphone into a car key. Add to that a Head-Up Display and a Harman Kardon surround sound system, and the cabin feels less like a car interior and more like a stylish lounge on wheels.

Powering the MINI Convertible is a 2.0-litre petrol engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. The result is a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h—numbers that ensure the fun doesn’t stop when the roof comes down.

With its instant sell-out, the all-new MINI Convertible has clearly struck a chord with Indian buyers looking for something expressive, premium and unapologetically fun. As the next booking window approaches, one thing is certain: the waiting list might soon be longer than the time it takes to open the roof.
