In an era of EVs, ADAS, and autonomous parking, more than 100 classic machines are gearing up to do what they do best — roar, rattle, and roll. Yokohama India has teamed up with The Classic Himalayan Drive 2025, a 10-day motoring expedition that revives the spirit of the iconic Himalayan Rallies of the 1980s — when GPS meant “Guessing the Path Somewhere.”
Starting November 2, this extraordinary rally will see a parade of timeless legends including a 1958 Mercedes 180A, a 1970 Ford Mustang, a 2000 Mini Cooper, Lexus 470, Jaguar XK8, and the elegant Mercedes 230 CE — all set to brave Himalayan hairpins that make even modern SUVs sweat. Participants are joining from across India, Europe, the UK, and Sri Lanka, proving that automotive passion knows no borders — or fuel gauges that work accurately at high altitudes.

The convoy will wind through Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and Manali, turning the mountains into a moving museum of motoring history. Think of it as the Woodstock of wheels — but with more carburetors and fewer guitars.
Adding to the nostalgia is a modern pit stop with old-school charm: Yokohama Club Network – Batra Tyres, Chandigarh, will host the fleet on November 9. The pit stop promises tyre health check-ups, wheel alignments, and enough balancing to make even yoga instructors jealous. Fans and enthusiasts are invited to drop by for a close-up with these chrome-clad time machines — selfie sticks welcome, but touching the paint is strictly at owner’s risk.
Speaking about the partnership, Gaurav Mahajan, Head of Marketing, Yokohama India, said:
“The Classic Himalayan Drive is more than a motoring event; it’s a moving tribute to engineering, endurance, and the pure joy of driving. For us, this partnership is a natural extension of Yokohama’s philosophy — enabling drivers to extract more thrill, more control, and perhaps a little more patience when a carburetor decides to meditate at 10,000 feet.”
As the engines fire up and the mountain air fills with the scent of petrol, nostalgia, and a hint of clutch smoke, The Classic Himalayan Drive 2025 reminds us that while technology may change, the soul of driving — and the sound of a Mustang echoing through the Himalayas — never goes out of style.
