Mumbai: In a moment that combined digital precision with rural ambition, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, virtually inaugurated Mahindra Tractor’s Skill Development Centre in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra — proving that when it comes to building skills, distance is no tractor-pulling contest.
The initiative is a milestone in India’s mission to transform its demographic dividend into a dynamic workforce, aligning seamlessly with the Prime Minister and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s focus on skill development. And where better to start than Gadchiroli — where green fields meet gritty determination.
🚜 A Skill Engine for Rural Youth
Mahindra Tractors, India’s No.1 tractor brand, has set up this Skill Development Centre at Government ITI College, Gadchiroli, in collaboration with the Department of Vocational Education & Training (DVET) and the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS).
The Centre aims to equip rural youth with world-class, industry-relevant skills in tractors and farm machinery — moving beyond the classroom and straight into on-job training and placement opportunities. From handling high-tech equipment to mastering the art of assembly, these trainees will be more than just tractor drivers — they’ll be the new-age farm tech professionals.
🧠 Cultivating Skills, Harvesting Hope
The curriculum, designed and delivered by Mahindra’s best trainers, offers hands-on experience with modern machinery, preparing students for a spectrum of roles across manufacturing plants, dealerships, sales, and service networks. Essentially, it’s not just about learning to fix tractors — it’s about accelerating careers and fueling rural growth.
🗣️ Voices from the Ground
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said:
“We at Mahindra are deeply honoured that our Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mahindra Tractor Skill Development Centre in Gadchiroli. Maharashtra is not just a leading industrial centre, but a state deeply connected to the farm sector’s growth journey. It is a matter of great pride for us to partner with the Government of Maharashtra, creating a future where our rural communities are uplifted by cultivating skills and harvesting hope.”
🌟 A New Chapter for Gadchiroli
With this initiative, Gadchiroli is set to shift gears from traditional learning to future-ready skilling. Who knows — the next great tractor innovator might just emerge from a classroom here, armed with a wrench in one hand and a tablet in the other.
