Customers to save up to ₹1.56 lakh – Finance Ministry just became everyone’s favorite co-pilot
Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India’s SUV powerhouse and unofficial torchbearer of “Big, Bold, and Beneficial,” has announced that starting today, it will pass on the full benefits of GST 2.0 to its customers. The move comes in the wake of the landmark 56th GST Council meeting on September 3, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which revamped the tax structure for the automobile sector.
From September 6, every customer walking into a Mahindra showroom for an ICE SUV will be greeted not just by chrome grilles and rugged stance, but also by savings of up to ₹1.56 lakh—enough to fund a Ladakh road trip with fuel, snacks, and maybe a drone shot or two.
“Mahindra has always been about giving customers more SUV per rupee,” said an industry observer, tongue firmly in cheek. “Now, thanks to GST 2.0, they’re also giving customers more rupees per SUV.”
Driving Down Costs, Literally
The benefits apply across Mahindra’s entire ICE SUV portfolio—from the Thar that makes traffic signals feel like an adventure stop, to the Scorpio-N that can scare away potholes, and the XUV700 that has enough tech to qualify for its own Aadhaar card.
Customers booking their SUVs from September 6 onwards will see the revised, lower prices factored in. Dealerships are reportedly bracing for a festive-season rush that could rival the Great Indian Wedding Sale.
Why This Matters
With GST 2.0 simplifying the tax maze, reducing rates for mass mobility, and bringing State-level consensus, the timing couldn’t be better. As India rolls into its peak festive season, the announcement is expected to not just boost SUV sales but also lift customer sentiment.
