Gurugram: Just in time for the festive season, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has expanded its ever-popular Knight series with three new black-themed marvels — the Creta Electric Knight, i20 Knight, and Alcazar Knight. For those who think every car looks better in black, Hyundai has heard you, doubled down, and basically turned the entire showroom into Gotham City.
Since its launch in 2022, the Knight edition has already found over 77,000 homes (or batcaves, depending on how you see it). With today’s additions, the Knight family now stands tall with six members: Creta, Venue, Exter, Creta Electric, i20, and Alcazar. Essentially, if you want a Hyundai that isn’t a Knight edition, you now have to specifically ask for it.

Style Meets Stealth
The Knight editions are instantly recognizable with their black alloy wheels, red brake calipers, matte black logos, exclusive Knight badges, and all-black interiors with brass inserts. Hyundai insists this isn’t just a car; it’s a “statement.” The statement, of course, being: “Yes, I did spend more time picking the right shade of black for my car than my wedding suit.”
Knight Powertrain Choices
- Creta Electric Knight: Available with a 51.4 kWh pack (510 km range) and 42 kWh pack (420 km range). Batman may still use the Batmobile, but at least now it would be zero-emission.
- i20 Knight: Offered with a 1.2L Kappa petrol engine in Sportz (O) MT and Asta (O) IVT trims. For those who like their hatchbacks dressed like ninjas.
- Alcazar Knight: Comes in 1.5L Turbo GDi Petrol (7-speed DCT) and 1.5L U2 CRDi Diesel (6-speed AT), both in the plush Signature 7-seater variant. Because even families deserve to look mysterious.
New Features for the Festive Glow
Hyundai also sprinkled in some upgrades:
- i20 & i20 N Line: Now feature a sporty rear spoiler, dashcam, and wireless Android Auto / Apple CarPlay. Perfect for recording that one guy who still thinks indicators are optional.
- Alcazar: Gains a dashcam in the Signature variant, which should come in handy for when your kids reenact WWE moves in the third row.
The Colour of the Season: Matte Black
Creta Electric Knight and Alcazar Knight now arrive in a brand-new Matte Black paint option. Hyundai knows Indians love black, and this time, they’ve made sure you won’t need to bribe your painter to “make it more black.”
Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and COO, HMIL, summed it up:
“The allure of black embodies the bold spirit of young Indian buyers while asserting commanding road presence.”
Translated loosely: “If you don’t look twice at it in the parking lot, you need an eye test.”
With the Knight range now spread across hatchbacks, SUVs, and even EVs, Hyundai has turned “Black Edition” from a limited-run novelty into a full-fledged lifestyle choice. Consider it India’s automotive version of wearing black to every party — timeless, stylish, and just edgy enough to make others wonder if you’re plotting world domination.
