Winging It with Style: Hispano Suiza’s Latest Hypercar, Carmen Sagrera, Revs Up for a 120-Year-Old Birthday Bash

Barcelona Buzzes with Excitement as Hispano Suiza Teases New Electric Hypercar

Barcelona, 19th February 2024 – It’s not just a car, it’s a time capsule on wheels! Hispano Suiza, the storied Spanish carmaker, has given the world a glimpse of its future wrapped in its past, with the first sneak-peek of the Carmen Sagrera, an all-electric hypercar, through a riveting 12-second teaser. This high-octane beauty is set to make a grand entrance in June 2024, celebrating 120 revved-up years of the iconic brand.

Designed by the renowned Francesc Arenas, the Carmen Sagrera is a sight for sore eyes, flaunting a massive carbon fibre rear wing that’s as much about swagger as it is about aerodynamics. This masterpiece is the brainchild of CTO Juan Fernández and his team, marrying sportiness with “hyperlux”, a term Hispano Suiza coined when they launched their first electric hypercar, Carmen, back in 2019.

But wait, there’s more under the hood – or should we say, in the battery pack? The Carmen Sagrera is juiced up with a new 103 kW battery, promising longer drives and more adventures.

Hispano Suiza’s latest wonder is not just a car; it’s a nod to history. Named after the La Sagrera district in Barcelona, where the company’s first major factory was established, the Carmen Sagrera is a tribute to the brand’s deep roots and illustrious past. This district, once a hive of industrial activity, was where Hispano Suiza expanded its wings, from a humble beginning in 1907 to a workforce of 1,800 strong.

A story that began in 1904 with founders Damián Mateu and Marc Birkigt, Hispano Suiza now stands tall, celebrating its 120th anniversary under the stewardship of Miguel Suqué Mateu, the great-grandson of the founder. It’s a saga that spans over 12,000 luxury cars, 50,000 aircraft engines, and a legacy that continues with the electrifying Carmen series.

So, gear up, history buffs and car enthusiasts! The Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera isn’t just another hypercar; it’s a rolling tribute to 120 years of innovation, luxury, and the spirit of Barcelona. Get ready to witness history in motion, electrifying the roads while honoring its glorious past!
