New Delhi – Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx has done it again – not just turning heads on the road, but also turning production lines into turbo mode. In just 28 months since its launch, the compact SUV has zoomed past the 5 lakh cumulative production mark, proving that small packages can deliver very big numbers.
The Fronx is not just a domestic darling but also an international heartthrob. It became the first Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki SUV to be exported to Japan, making the rare journey of a car from India to the land of sushi and sumo. In FY 2024-25, it even bagged the crown of being the highest exported passenger vehicle in the industry—with one in every five units rolling straight onto a ship instead of the Indian roads.

Speaking on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said,
“We are deeply grateful to our customers for choosing Fronx as their vehicle of choice. This milestone reflects India’s manufacturing excellence and customer acceptance for vehicles with futuristic design. With bold styling, best-in-class fuel efficiency, and advanced technology features, Fronx quickly gained popularity in both domestic and international markets. As we move forward, we remain committed to delivering exciting and value-packed products that exceed customer expectations.”
With its sporty design, tech-laden interiors, and efficiency credentials, the Fronx has climbed into the top 10 selling vehicles in India—a feat that makes it one of the most popular names in the compact SUV arena. And given its jet-setting export life, it wouldn’t be wrong to say the Fronx has officially graduated from “neighbourhood SUV” to “global celebrity.”
At this pace, Maruti Suzuki may soon need a bigger calculator to keep count. Until then, Fronx continues to flex its numbers—because five lakh isn’t just a milestone, it’s a Fronx-stone.
