Kia Carens Clavis EV Rolls Out as India’s First Electric RV, Starting at ₹17.99 Lakh

New Delhi – Buckle up and plug in, because Kia India has just flipped the switch on its first Made-in-India electric vehicle — the Carens Clavis EV. Designed not just for city zips or solo jaunts, but for big, fat, family-sized road trips (with a sprinkle of cutting-edge tech), the Clavis EV is here to prove that going green doesn’t mean going solo.

Starting at ₹17.99 lakh, this Electric Recreational Vehicle (or Electric RV, if you prefer your acronyms with attitude) is India’s answer to “Can an EV seat seven, go 490 km on a single charge, and still fit your in-laws and their luggage?” Spoiler alert: Yes. Yes, it can.

Battery with Benefits
The Clavis EV comes with two battery flavors — a 42 kWh version for the practical types (ARAI-certified 404 km range), and a beefier 51.4 kWh pack (ARAI-certified 490 km range) for those who treat charging stops like awkward family reunions: best avoided. Fast charging? Oh yes. 10 to 80% in just 39 minutes — enough time to grab a samosa and scroll through existential memes.

Tech with Torque
Power figures? 99kW and 126kW motors, delivering 255Nm of torque. That’s fancy-speak for “this thing moves when you tell it to,” even with all three rows filled, and the dog, and maybe a small refrigerator plugged into the V2L outlet.

Speaking of V2L — yes, this car can power your camping blender, your laptop, or even your mid-mountain popcorn machine. Why? Because it’s 2025 and cars multitask better than most of us.

Interior: Where Space Meets Grace
Inside, the Clavis is basically a rolling tech lounge. There’s a massive 26.62-inch panoramic display panel (infotainment + instrument cluster), ambient lighting in 64 colors (perfect for mood swings), and a Bose 8-speaker system to ensure your Spotify playlist hits like a live concert — even in traffic.

Add ventilated seats, electric tumble function for the second row, and a Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI display and you’ve got more luxury than some hotel rooms. Oh, and there’s a frunk too. Because even the front gets storage envy.

Safety that Sees Around Corners
Level 2 ADAS? Of course. With over 20 autonomous features that can see cyclists, pedestrians, incoming traffic, and probably your ex’s emotional baggage. Six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, and sensors that can tell when your teenager’s trying to sneak the car out at night.

Design: Futuristic with a Hint of ‘Don’t Mess With Me’
Outside, the Clavis EV wears Kia’s “Opposites United” design like a badge of honour. Star Map LEDs, Ice Cube headlamps, 17-inch aero alloys, and that bold Digital Tiger Face grille give it a sci-fi-meets-SUV vibe. Ground clearance? A proud 200mm — because India’s roads are more plot twists than pavement.

Connectivity so Smart, It Could File Your Taxes
With 90 connected car features, the Clavis EV could practically apply for citizenship. It tells you how much charge you’ve got left, where to find the next charger, and even warns you when it’s full — unlike certain people at buffets. The Kia EV Route Planner maps your trip, charging stops, and even your sanity breaks.

Ownership: EV-erything, Everywhere, All at Once
Charging anxiety? Handled. Kia offers 11,000+ charging points via the K-Charge app, EV-ready workshops in 250+ cities, and dealerships with DC fast chargers. You also get live video consultations, predictive maintenance alerts, and an AI-powered digital manual — because flipping through paper is so 2010.

Variants for Everyone with a Plug and a Dream
Available in four variants (HTK Plus, HTX, ER HTX, ER HTX Plus) and six colors including a striking Matte Ivory Silver, the Carens Clavis EV isn’t just an electric car — it’s a declaration: that the future of Indian road trips is here, it’s silent, and it’s got regenerative braking in i-Pedal mode.

Kia’s Carens Clavis EV doesn’t just whisper “the future is electric,” it says it out loud — with ambient lighting, cruise control, and a powered sunroof. It’s roomy, zippy, safe, and clever — just like that one cousin who went to IIT but still plays carrom at family get-togethers.

And now, he drives an EV.
