Mumbai — Fasten your seatbelts, desi petrolheads — the icon with a growl is about to go full Maharaja mode. Mercedes-Benz has announced the arrival of an India-inspired AMG G63 ‘Collector’s Edition’, set to launch on June 12, and let’s just say, this one’s got more cultural flair than a Diwali gala in Lutyens’ Delhi.
Since 1979, the G-Class has transformed from a military-grade mountain goat to the vehicular equivalent of a luxury villa — boxy, bold, and absurdly capable. Whether it’s conquering the Alps or cruising Bandra’s promenades, the G has always done it with a sense of superiority only an AMG V8 can justify.
Now, for the first time ever, Mercedes-Benz is adding some masala to the madness. The AMG G 63 ‘Collector’s Edition’ has been crafted with India in mind — a celebration of our roads (or lack thereof), our diversity, and our undying love for anything that roars and turns heads.

The special edition isn’t just a cosmetic tribute with a tricolour sticker slapped on the bonnet. It’s the result of a thoughtful collaboration between Mercedes-Benz India and Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI). Think local inspiration, global engineering — like matching a sherwani with Swiss cufflinks.
From bespoke Indian-themed interiors to possibly limited paint schemes inspired by India’s landscapes (we’re betting on ‘Desert Dune Beige’ and ‘Monsoon Grey’), the AMG G 63 ‘Collector’s Edition’ is expected to be as exclusive as a private invite to Antilia.
Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, and Manu Saale, MD & CEO of MBRDI, will virtually unveil the limited-edition luxo-thunderbox on June 12, likely with as much drama as a Bollywood climax scene.
Only a handful of units are expected — so if your garage is already hosting Bentleys and Maybachs, and you’re still wondering what’s missing… well, here comes your G-spot.
Stay tuned. Or better yet, start praying to your booking agent.
