Lake Como, Italy: If James Bond ever quit MI6 to become a gentleman vintner in Tuscany, this would be his daily driver. At the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este — the auto equivalent of haute couture week for gearheads — BMW has pulled the silk off its latest work of rolling sculpture: the BMW Concept Speedtop.
It’s not just a car. It’s a three-door love letter to driving enthusiasts, leather connoisseurs, and the chronically exclusive. Picture a Touring, but with a few lines from a supercar, a colour palette straight from Lake Como’s golden hour, and enough artisanal leatherwork to make Milan Fashion Week jealous.

Shooting Brake, But Make It Sartorial
Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW’s Head of Design and apparently someone who has never drawn a dull line in his life, puts it simply: “The Speedtop is an exclamation mark.” Which makes sense — this thing doesn’t whisper “sporty,” it yells “Bellissimo!” while redlining.
The “Floating Sunstone Maroon to Sundown Silver” gradient on the roof might sound like a new artisanal gelato flavour, but it’s actually a masterclass in colour blending. Paired with 14-spoke wheels dressed to impress, the Speedtop’s silhouette is the automotive equivalent of a tailored tux with racing shoes.
Luxury That’s Practically Show-Off Material
Inside, it’s a two-seat lounge of luxury. Brogue-style leather detailing, two-tone upholstery that marries “Sundown Maroon” with “Moonstone White,” and a headliner that glows like ambient candlelight at a Michelin-starred villa. Even the trunk is lined in leather — because apparently, your luggage deserves a better interior than most commuter sedans.
Speaking of luggage, BMW has teamed up with legendary Italian leather crafters Schedoni to offer custom-fitted bags. Yes, this car has bespoke luggage with more heritage than most European monarchies. And yes, it fits behind your head, because the Speedtop understands that storage should be sexy.
Under the Hood: V8 Drama Included
Lest you think it’s all form and no fury, BMW confirms the Speedtop is powered by its most powerful V8 — a symphony of combustion that’s less “gentle tourer” and more “polite thunderstorm.” It might look calm parked beside the lake, but press the pedal and it’s ready to rearrange your hairstyle.
Collectors, Start Your Chequebooks
Only 70 units of the Speedtop will be produced, following the wildly successful (and instantly sold-out) Skytop from last year. According to Bernd Körber, BMW’s SVP of Brand & Product Management, “Enthusiasts asked for more — and when collectors ask nicely, we hand them keys.”
Orders are now open for those with sufficiently deep pockets, empty garages, and a burning desire to own the rarest touring-top hat on four wheels.
A Car for the Sartorial Speed Addict
The BMW Concept Speedtop is less about getting from A to B and more about making everything between look like a lifestyle advert. It’s part car, part collector’s item, and wholly irresistible.
As one onlooker at Villa d’Este was overheard saying:
“It’s like BMW dipped a bar of dark chocolate in horsepower and parked it by the lake.”
