Maruti on the Move: 1.79 Lakh Reasons April Was No Fool’s Month for India’s Top Carmaker

New Delhi — Maruti Suzuki India Limited has kicked off FY26 in high gear, clocking total sales of 179,791 units in April 2025 — and not a single one was an April Fool’s prank.

Breaking down the numbers: 142,053 units were sold domestically, 9,827 units were supplied to other OEMs (yes, Maruti plays well with others too), and 27,911 units took the ‘Make in India’ badge global.

Segment-wise, the Indian car-buying public continued to show their affection for compact cars, with 61,591 units finding new homes, while the Mini category brought in 6,332 units — proving there’s still love for the little guys. The suave Ciaz clocked 321 units, presumably to chauffeurs who appreciate good taste on a budget.

The SUV wave shows no signs of breaking, with 59,022 units sold — a stat that should make other automakers clutch their suspension systems nervously. The ever-reliable Eeco van (11,438 units) and the hard-working Super Carry (3,349 units) also carried their weight.

Exports, meanwhile, continued their strong run at 27,911 units, showing that Maruti’s global footprint is less of a footprint and more of a full-on tyre mark.

As India’s largest carmaker keeps the wheels spinning into FY26, all eyes will be on what’s next — perhaps a few surprises, but certainly no slowdowns.
