Hyundai India Accelerates Ahead: Creta Leads the Pack as HMIL Strengthens No. 2 Position in FY 24-25

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has once again reinforced its commanding presence in the Indian automotive landscape by securing the position of the second largest Passenger Vehicle (PV) OEM for the financial year 2024-25. Bolstered by robust SUV sales and record-breaking exports, HMIL recorded a total of 7,62,052 units in sales, comprising 5,98,666 domestic units and 1,63,386 exports.

At the heart of Hyundai’s stellar performance is the Hyundai Creta, which has clinched the title of India’s No. 1 SUV for the January–March quarter of FY 24-25, with 52,898 units sold. The Creta’s dominance was complemented by a growing SUV portfolio, which now contributes to a remarkable 68.5% of Hyundai’s domestic sales.

Solidifying our position further in India, HMIL continued its reign as the second largest passenger vehicle OEM in FY 24-25, thanks to the unparalleled trust of our customers on brand Hyundai,” said Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL. He also highlighted the successful debut of Hyundai’s first indigenous electric SUV – the Creta Electric, and the launch of the new Hyundai ALCAZAR, both of which strengthened the brand’s SUV portfolio.

Hyundai also marked two key milestones this fiscal year:

  • Surpassing 2.5 million cumulative SUV sales (domestic + exports)
  • Achieving 1.5 million cumulative sales of the Creta since its inception

On the export front, HMIL retained its title as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter, dispatching 1,63,386 units to international markets. This solidifies India’s role as a global export hub for Hyundai Motor Company.

In March 2025 alone, HMIL clocked 67,320 units in total sales (Domestic: 51,820 | Exports: 15,500), reflecting a 2.6% growth year-on-year.

With strong domestic demand, a rapidly expanding EV portfolio, and a commanding export strategy, Hyundai Motor India is firmly steering ahead on its growth trajectory — with the Creta continuing to lead the way.
