Two to Tango: Nissan India’s Double Act Set to Steal the Spotlight by 2026

New Delhi/Yokohama – In a move that says “We’re not just idling anymore,” Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has revved up excitement by announcing plans to launch two new models in India over the next two years—proof that the Japanese automaker is not just in the race, but plotting a fast lane takeover.

Unveiled amidst a flurry of future-facing announcements in Yokohama, the new strategy is anything but neutral. With an MPV expected in FY25 and a 5-seater compact SUV hitting roads in FY26, Nissan is putting the pedal to the metal on its India ambitions. And no, this isn’t just another “we’re working on it” PR lap—the vehicles will be made right here at Nissan’s Chennai plant, tuned for both domestic drives and export highways under the global “One Car, One World” banner.

“Today, we unveil our redefined market approach,” declared Guillaume Cartier, Nissan’s Chief Performance Officer, sounding every bit like a man ready to swap PowerPoints for horsepower. “We’re not just diversifying powertrains; we’re diversifying reasons for customers to smile.”

India, which has become the automotive world’s version of a high-speed expressway, plays a central role in this roadmap. Nissan plans to go full throttle, targeting 100,000 units annually in both domestic sales and exports—because why settle for one when you can double the fun?

Meanwhile, Ivan Espinosa, Nissan’s Chief Planning Officer, offered fans a teaser that would make any Bollywood director jealous: a reimagined Nissan Leaf, a gutsy Micra EV, and a refreshed SUV lineup—basically, a box-office bonanza on four wheels.

But wait, there’s more than just shiny metal. Nissan’s next-gen e-Power tech promises to mix the thrill of an electric drive with the reliability of a petrol-powered backup, giving drivers the confidence of EVs without the anxiety of range roulette.

Whether you’re a die-hard Nissan loyalist or someone whose car-buying decisions hinge on cupholder count, there’s no denying it: the company’s India chapter is about to get a serious rewrite—with turbocharged footnotes.

So buckle up, India. Nissan’s bringing two new stars to the stage—and this time, they’re ready for a standing ovation.
