Honda Cars India Welcomes New Leadership as Takashi Nakajima Appointed President & CEO

New Delhi: In a significant leadership transition, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the appointment of Takashi Nakajima as the new President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), effective April 1, 2025. This change follows Honda’s annual management reshuffle.

A New Chapter with Takashi Nakajima

Nakajima steps into his new role after an extensive 30-year career with Honda Motor Co. Ltd., where he held various key positions across international markets including Japan, China, Spain, Czech Republic, and Russia. Notably, he has been serving as the President of Honda Motor Russia since 2021. His expertise spans business planning, product planning, marketing, and sales promotion. Most recently, Nakajima led Product Planning, Marketing, and Corporate Communication for Honda’s automobile business in the domestic Japanese market.

Farewell to Takuya Tsumura: A Legacy of Growth

Nakajima succeeds Takuya Tsumura, who will return to Honda’s Japan headquarters after a successful three-year tenure in India. Under Tsumura’s leadership, HCIL achieved notable milestones:

  • Strengthened Honda’s premium brand image in India.
  • Launched the country’s first mainstream hybrid model, the Honda City e:HEV.
  • Introduced the Honda Elevate, a global SUV, and the All-New 3rd Generation Amaze.
  • Laid the groundwork for Honda’s upcoming Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in India.
  • Expanded Honda’s export footprint with Made-in-India Elevate shipments to Japan.

Tsumura also championed customer-centric innovations and led impactful marketing campaigns designed to connect with diverse consumer groups.

A Future of Innovation and Growth

With Nakajima’s extensive global experience and strategic insight, Honda Cars India is poised for continued innovation and expansion. His focus on business planning, marketing excellence, and customer satisfaction is expected to further strengthen HCIL’s position in India’s competitive automotive market.

Honda enthusiasts can look forward to exciting new developments as Nakajima takes the wheel to steer the company toward a dynamic future.
