Honda India Reaches Milestone with 50,000 ADAS-Enabled Vehicles on Indian Roads

Honda Strengthens Commitment to Road Safety with Expanding ADAS Portfolio

New Delhi – Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a leading manufacturer of premium automobiles, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 50,000 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)-enabled vehicles on Indian roads. This achievement reinforces HCIL’s commitment to Honda’s global vision of “Safety for Everyone” and its goal of achieving zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050.

Honda’s proprietary ADAS suite, Honda Sensing, was first introduced in India with the Honda City e:HEV in May 2022, marking a pioneering step in mainstream hybrid electric vehicle safety. Since then, HCIL has expanded its ADAS offerings across its lineup, including the Honda City (March 2023), Honda Elevate (September 2023), and most recently, the Honda Amaze (December 2024). The third-generation Honda Amaze now stands as the most affordable ADAS-equipped car in India, making advanced safety technology more accessible to a broader customer base.

ADAS-Equipped Models Driving Sales

The growing consumer preference for safety features is evident in the sales distribution of ADAS-enabled models:

  • Honda Elevate: 60% of total sales
  • Honda City: 95% of total sales
  • Honda Amaze: 30% of total sales

Moreover, among customers opting for ADAS-equipped models, one in every two buyers cited safety technology as their primary reason for purchase. This highlights a paradigm shift in Indian car buyers’ priorities, with safety becoming a critical factor in decision-making.

Leadership in Safety Innovation

Honda Cars India has been at the forefront of safety innovation, becoming the first automaker in India to introduce ADAS in manual transmission (MT) variants with the Honda City in 2023. Currently, the V, VX, and ZX grades of the Honda City, the ZX grade of the Honda Elevate, and the ZX grade of the Honda Amaze come equipped with Honda Sensing in both MT and CVT options. The Honda City e:HEV also offers ADAS as a standard feature.

Industry Response and Future Vision

Expressing his thoughts on this milestone, Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., stated:

“At Honda Cars India, safety is at the core of everything we do. Achieving the milestone of 50,000 ADAS-enabled vehicles on Indian roads reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing safety for all. This achievement not only aligns with our global safety vision but also demonstrates the growing preference and acceptance of Indian consumers to advanced driver assistance technologies. Every day, we are working to make our vehicles safer by continuously improving both active and passive safety features, ensuring that we offer a secure driving experience for everyone.”

A Safer Future with Honda Sensing

Honda continues to focus on crashworthiness, collision compatibility, and pedestrian safety, aiming for a collision-free society. The expansion of Honda Sensing across its lineup ensures that cutting-edge safety features become a norm rather than a luxury, setting a new benchmark in the Indian automotive industry.

As the adoption of ADAS technology continues to rise, Honda Cars India is poised to lead the way in advancing road safety while offering customers the best in automotive innovation and reliability.
