Gurugram: JSW MG Motor India has appointed industry veteran Anurag Mehrotra as its new Managing Director, marking a strategic shift as the company gears up for accelerated growth in the electric vehicle and sustainable mobility segment. Mehrotra brings with him nearly three decades of automotive leadership, having previously held senior positions at Tata Motors and Ford India.
Mehrotra will operate from the company’s Gurugram headquarters, focusing on driving strategic growth initiatives and reinforcing the company’s core brand values: diversity, experience, innovation, and community. “Anurag’s diverse experience and his deep understanding of both domestic and international markets will be critical in taking this journey to the next level,” said Yu De, Assistant to SAIC President and Head of International Operation at SAIC Motor, the Chinese partner in the joint venture.
The appointment signals a leadership transition from Rajeev Chaba, the outgoing President and Managing Director, who played a pivotal role in establishing the MG brand in India. Under Chaba’s stewardship, MG became a frontrunner in automotive innovation, spearheading category-first products and building a resilient, high-performing team.
“We are grateful to Rajeev for his exceptional leadership in building the MG brand in India. His contributions have set a robust foundation for the future,” Yu De added. Chaba will continue to offer strategic counsel as a member of the Joint Steering Committee, ensuring a smooth transition.
