In a historic step toward operational readiness, the first validation flight landed at Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar today, signaling a major milestone for the ambitious project. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu led the ceremony, joined by prominent dignitaries, including Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh. The IndiGo-operated flight was greeted with a ceremonial water cannon salute and applause, particularly from the site workers who have been integral to the airport’s development.
The validation flight was conducted to confirm the operational readiness of critical systems, including navigational aids and air traffic control procedures. Ram Mohan Naidu lauded the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, noting that the airport is poised to redefine air travel and connectivity in India. “Jewar Airport is not just an infrastructural marvel but a symbol of India’s progress. It will combine world-class facilities with the rich cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh,” he stated.
Transforming Regional Connectivity and Sustainability
Set to commence operations in 2025, Noida International Airport will open with one functional runway and a terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually. Its design embodies the cultural essence of Uttar Pradesh, incorporating local craftsmanship into its architecture and services.
During his visit, the Minister conducted a comprehensive review of the project, emphasizing adherence to the April 2025 deadline. Connectivity plans, including metro, road, and future high-speed rail integration, were also evaluated. Naidu highlighted the importance of sustainability, with solar energy being a key element in powering the airport. “This project represents a balance between cutting-edge infrastructure and environmental stewardship,” he added.
Economic Catalyst for Western Uttar Pradesh
Naidu also acknowledged the vital support of the local community, particularly the farmers of Jewar, whose contributions enabled the realization of the airport. The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs, boost tourism, and spur regional economic development, further cementing Uttar Pradesh’s role as a national aviation hub.
Applauding the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Naidu said, “This project is a testament to their vision for a modern India. Jewar Airport will be Asia’s largest and will undoubtedly set new benchmarks in aviation and infrastructure.”
Setting the Stage for 2025 Operational Debut
