A milestone in advanced automotive safety testing, the state-of-the-art facility promises enhanced vehicle performance and road safety standards.
Chennai, India – ZF Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) India has launched its state-of-the-art Electronic Stability Control (ESC) test track in Chennai, setting a new benchmark in vehicle safety and performance testing. This advanced facility complements ZF’s existing Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) test track, further solidifying the company’s role as a leader in automotive safety innovation.
Certified by globally recognized authorities TÜV Rheinland and ARAI, the ESC test track is designed to rigorously evaluate vehicle stability, agility, and handling across a wide range of vehicles, from two-wheelers to heavy commercial vehicles. The facility is not only a resource for ZF’s own projects but also open to customers and third parties for independent testing.
State-of-the-Art Features
The track boasts a 200-meter diameter dynamic pad with a high-grip 0.9 µ surface friction, enabling precise testing of critical performance metrics such as acceleration, braking, and cornering. Engineers can push vehicles to their limits under controlled conditions to identify areas for further enhancement.
Additionally, the facility includes 600 meters of approach roads, replicating real-world scenarios like slippery surfaces, sharp turns, and sudden braking. These conditions simulate the challenges of everyday driving, ensuring vehicles meet stringent safety and performance criteria.
Leadership Speaks
P. Kaniappan, Managing Director of ZF CVS India, emphasized the transformative potential of the new test track:
“This facility represents a leap forward in our mission to advance vehicle safety. By integrating cutting-edge technology and collaborating with industry experts, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions that save lives and redefine safety standards in the automotive industry.”
Dr. Christian Brenneke, Executive Vice President, Division Electronics and ADAS, and member of the Supervisory Board in India, highlighted the significance of the new track:
“The ESC test track is a culmination of years of meticulous planning and teamwork. This facility not only strengthens our commitment to road safety but also empowers us to better address customer needs and innovate for the future.”
Driving the Future of Safety
This new facility underscores ZF’s vision of shaping the future of automotive safety and performance. By investing in cutting-edge infrastructure and testing methodologies, ZF CVS India aims to empower the industry with advanced safety systems that enhance vehicle reliability and protect lives on the road.
As the automotive landscape evolves, ZF’s commitment to innovation and excellence continues to pave the way for safer, more advanced vehicles on a global scale.
