Škoda Kylaq Launches with Bold Pricing, Exclusive Perks for Early Buyers, and Segment-First Features

Mumbai – Škoda Auto India has officially unveiled its much-anticipated compact SUV, the Kylaq, marking a pivotal moment in the brand’s journey within the sub-4m SUV segment. Promising a blend of European technology, dynamic performance, and robust design, the Kylaq is set to redefine the segment with its value-driven pricing and an exclusive ownership experience for early customers.

The Kylaq’s pricing starts at ₹7.89 lakh for the Classic variant and extends to ₹14.40 lakh for the top-end Prestige AT trim. Bookings open today at 4 PM, with deliveries slated to begin on January 27, 2025. Adding to the excitement, the first 33,333 customers will receive a complimentary 3-year Standard Maintenance Package (SMP), effectively lowering the SUV’s maintenance cost to just ₹0.24/km over five years.

Phenomenal Reception

The buzz around the Kylaq has been building steadily, with over 160,000 expressions of interest from prospective buyers and enthusiasts across Škoda’s Kylaq Club and other platforms. Speaking on the launch, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, emphasized, “The Kylaq is more than just an SUV; it’s a statement of our commitment to democratize European engineering on Indian roads. With its modern design, uncompromising safety, and unmatched value, we aim to attract a new wave of customers while strengthening Škoda’s foothold in the Indian market.”

A Variant for Every Customer

Škoda’s Kylaq is available in four variants—Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige—catering to diverse needs. Customers also have the option of seven striking colors, including exclusive shades like Olive Gold.

  • Classic: The base variant packs safety-first features like six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), anti-lock brakes, and all-LED lighting. Convenience is prioritized with tilt-and-reach steering adjustment, automatic speed-sensitive locking, and rear parking assistance.
  • Signature: Enhancing comfort, the Signature variant includes cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, a 7-inch Škoda Touch Infotainment System with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and rear AC vents.
  • Signature+: This mid-variant offers a premium experience with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a larger 10.1-inch infotainment display, and an 8-inch Virtual Cockpit for the driver.
  • Prestige: The top-tier variant is a tech and luxury haven, boasting an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and paddle shifters for the automatic variant.

Designed for India, Tested to Extremes

Škoda engineered the Kylaq specifically for Indian roads, leveraging the MQB-A0-IN platform that has already proven its mettle with the Kushaq and Slavia. The Kylaq underwent rigorous testing across 800,000 kilometers—equivalent to a trip to the moon and back—on varying terrains and in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +85°C. To ensure water-tightness during monsoons, prototypes were subjected to 30 liters of water per minute for extended durations.

Performance That Delivers

Powering the Kylaq is a 1.0 TSI engine generating 85 kW (114 hp) of power and 178 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters available on higher trims. The SUV achieves a top speed of 188 km/h, with a 0-100 km/h sprint in 10.5 seconds.

Safety First

The Kylaq sets a benchmark with 25 standard safety features, including six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and advanced braking systems. It shares its safety DNA with the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which earned 5-star Global NCAP safety ratings.

Sustainability at Its Core

Manufactured at Škoda’s Chakan facility, the Kylaq is a testament to the company’s sustainable practices. The plant generates 30% of its energy through solar power, with plans to increase this to 75% by 2026. Additionally, it operates as a water-positive facility and has earned certifications for Zero Waste to Landfill and Zero Liquid Discharge.

Customer-Centric Ownership Experience

Škoda ensures a stress-free ownership experience with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty and an additional 6-year anti-corrosion warranty. The complimentary SMP for early buyers underlines the brand’s commitment to delivering value.

Škoda’s Vision for India

With its bold design language, cutting-edge features, and attractive pricing, the Kylaq positions itself as a strong contender in the competitive compact SUV market. Škoda’s focus on localization and a tailored approach for Indian consumers reflects its ambitious growth plans in the region.

As bookings open, the Kylaq’s entry promises to shake up the segment, bringing European engineering and luxury to a broader audience. With its eye-catching design, robust safety credentials, and feature-packed variants, the Kylaq is undoubtedly a game-changer for Škoda and the Indian automotive landscape.
