Manila — Mitsubishi Motors Corporation debuted its latest SUV concept, the Mitsubishi DST, at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show. This midsize, three-row SUV showcases Mitsubishi’s vision of adventurous, family-oriented travel within a refined, capable, and spacious vehicle.
The Mitsubishi DST Concept joins an ASEAN-focused lineup that already includes the popular Pajero Sport, Xforce compact SUV, and Xpander Cross MPVs. It marks a strategic expansion for the brand, offering a monocoque-bodied SUV with ample seven-seat comfort aimed at family and group travelers in the ASEAN region.
“Our DST Concept embodies Mitsubishi’s commitment to providing an SUV that fulfills drivers’ aspirations for exploration and mobility in a vehicle tailored to this region,” remarked Takao Kato, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors. He highlighted Mitsubishi’s Challenge 2025 mid-term plan, which envisions the DST as a “global strategic vehicle,” with initial production scheduled for fiscal year 2025 across ASEAN markets, including the Philippines.
Design with Purpose: “Gravitas & Dynamism”
Inspired by the themes of “Gravitas & Dynamism,” the DST concept pairs a commanding presence with an energetic, athletic design. The SUV’s roomy cabin offers seating that extends comfortably to the third row, while its sturdy stance and wide profile convey the robustness expected from a modern SUV. Large, wraparound windows and blacked-out pillars give passengers a panoramic view, emphasizing the vehicle’s spaciousness and elegance.
The front features Mitsubishi’s hallmark Dynamic Shield, with a prominent, honeycomb-patterned grille flanked by LED daytime running lights, creating a premium, high-tech appearance. The fender flares and side protectors lend the SUV a rugged, protective edge, reinforced by large skid plates that hint at its capability on various terrains.
Luxurious Comfort for Every Passenger
Inside, Mitsubishi has designed the DST for spacious luxury, using premium materials throughout the cabin. A sleek, soft-touch instrument panel connects seamlessly with door trims, adding to the sense of openness. The interior’s large, panoramic sunroof bathes the cabin in natural light, providing a serene travel experience.
A dual-screen setup integrates a full LCD driver display with a center console, enabling intuitive control of driving features, road conditions, and navigation in real time, fostering a sense of security and ease for the driver.
Built for Every Terrain and Every Adventure
Engineered to tackle ASEAN’s diverse landscapes, the DST offers five driving modes: Wet, Tarmac, Normal, Gravel, and Mud. With its high ground clearance and robust design, the DST ensures drivers can navigate flooded roads or winding mountain routes with confidence. Even in front-wheel drive, it’s built to deliver safe, dependable performance across all weather conditions.
As Mitsubishi positions the DST Concept to take on the ASEAN market, its focus on refined adventure suggests this new SUV could set a standard for family-friendly, versatile SUVs across the region and beyond. The production model, set to launch in fiscal year 2025, promises to bring Mitsubishi’s unique blend of style, capability, and spacious comfort to drivers looking for a truly capable adventure-ready vehicle.
