Electrifying the Paris Motor Show: MINI Unveils Two High-Performance All-Electric John Cooper Works Models

MINI has set the stage for an electric revolution in the premium small car segment with the global debut of two all-electric John Cooper Works (JCW) models at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. The MINI JCW Electric and MINI JCW Aceman, both packing 190 kW (258 hp), offer cutting-edge performance and race-inspired design, bringing the legendary JCW energy into a new era of electrification.

Unveiling Next-Generation Performance

MINI’s new all-electric JCW models, the MINI JCW Electric and the MINI JCW Aceman, promise top-tier acceleration and dynamic handling, designed to lead the small car segment. Both models can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6.5 seconds, with the MINI JCW Electric clocking in at 5.9 seconds and the JCW Aceman at 6.4 seconds. They share a top speed of 200 km/h, powered by high-voltage batteries delivering a range of up to 371 kilometers in the Electric and up to 355 kilometers in the Aceman, according to the WLTP cycle.

“The new all-electric JCW models take MINI’s racing heritage into an electrifying future,” said Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “These models deliver the unmistakable MINI go-kart feeling combined with the latest in electric propulsion.”

Racing Pedigree Meets Modern Technology

Drawing from its deep motorsport roots, John Cooper Works transfers decades of racetrack expertise to the road. An electric boost function, activated by a “go-kart mode” button, adds an extra 20 kW for quick overtaking and enhanced acceleration. Enhanced suspension systems and high-grip tires ensure agile handling, while powerful brakes with signature Chili Red calipers guarantee precise deceleration under intense conditions.

The lineage of JCW performance is unmistakable, tracing back to the 1960s when John Cooper himself developed a sporty version of the classic Mini, a car that would go on to dominate rally courses and secure three Monte Carlo Rally victories. These new models continue that tradition of excellence, now powered by the latest electric technology.

Design That Matches the Power

The fully electric JCW models are designed to look as fast as they drive. Bold aerodynamic elements, including a high-gloss black octagonal front grille and a large rear spoiler, highlight the vehicle’s performance focus. The red, white, and black JCW logo evokes motorsport heritage, while optional multi-tone Chili Red roofs and 18- to 19-inch wheels further enhance their aggressive stance.

Inside, the racing spirit is evident with black synthetic leather seats accented by red stitching, and a JCW-specific color scheme. The cockpit centers around a 240 mm OLED display that integrates air conditioning, media, and navigation, bringing advanced tech into the driver’s hands. Ambient lighting and customizable MINI Experience Modes allow drivers to tailor their interior environment, adding a touch of personalization.

A Suite of Assistance for Everyday Driving

Beyond performance, MINI’s new electric JCW models also cater to convenience and safety. With advanced driver assistance systems like automatic speed control, 3D navigation, and Parking Assistant Professional, these cars offer a smooth ride both on and off the racetrack. The Driving Assistant Plus package includes steering and lane-keeping support, while MINI’s navigation system even suggests parking options and provides digital payment features for maximum convenience.

With these exciting reveals, MINI has made it clear: the future of high-performance driving is electric, and the JCW lineup is leading the charge. As the 2024 Paris Motor Show continues, all eyes are on MINI’s bold leap into an electrified future.
