130+ Educators from 50+ Colleges to Gain Advanced Training, Impacting Over 10,000 Students in Key Engineering Fields
Chennai – In a bid to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s workforce in the automotive sector, global automaker Stellantis has teamed up with Naan Mudhalvan, a state initiative focused on upskilling the youth. This collaboration seeks to enhance the academic landscape by aligning it more closely with industry trends, equipping educators and students with cutting-edge knowledge.
The joint effort will focus on a Faculty Development Program (FDP) aimed at enhancing the skills of over 130 lecturers from 50+ colleges across Tamil Nadu, ultimately benefiting more than 10,000 students. Targeting faculty in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, and Automobile Engineering, the initiative aims to introduce real-world automotive practices into the curriculum. This move will boost student employability in a sector that is rapidly advancing towards electrification, autonomous vehicles, and sustainable mobility.
The program features 20+ expert-led sessions covering emerging technologies such as advanced powertrains, vehicle design, and connected mobility. These sessions, delivered by Stellantis executives and industry professionals, will provide educators with hands-on lab experience and a tour of Stellantis’ automotive plant. The goal is to integrate cutting-edge innovations directly into the classroom.
“With the industry shifting towards a future defined by electrification and sustainable mobility, we are committed to preparing students with the expertise needed to drive innovation,” said Shailesh Hazela, CEO & MD of Stellantis India. “Through this collaboration, we aim to bridge the gap between academia and the fast-evolving needs of the automotive sector.”
This initiative aligns with Stellantis’ broader focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), aiming to cultivate a diverse pool of talent capable of meeting global challenges. Furthermore, it supports Naan Mudhalvan’s vision to make Tamil Nadu a skill hub by fostering collaboration between educational institutions and industry leaders.
Since its launch in 2022, Naan Mudhalvan has been a key player in reshaping the state’s skill ecosystem by leveraging technology to connect students, colleges, and industry professionals. The insights gained from the FDP will also contribute to the introduction of new, industry-relevant courses in upcoming semesters, ensuring students in Tamil Nadu stay ahead in the rapidly transforming automotive landscape.
