Government Launches Special Drive to Clear Backlogs and Spruce Up National Highways in October 2024

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRT&H) is set to launch “Special Campaign 4.0” this October, aimed at tackling pending issues and promoting cleanliness across the nation’s highways and associated facilities. The campaign, led by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, will run from October 2 to 31, 2024, focusing on the disposal of pending matters and beautification efforts.

This annual initiative emphasizes addressing outstanding references from MPs, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), state governments, and inter-ministerial communications. It also covers public grievances, parliamentary assurances, simplification of procedures, and proper management of records. Alongside administrative tasks, the ministry will also focus on the disposal of scrap, redundant items, and improving the aesthetic appeal of offices and public areas.

The Ministry has already prepared for the campaign by engaging its attached offices, autonomous bodies, and public sector units. Around 15,000 sites, including office complexes, construction camps, toll plazas, roadside amenities, bus stops, and stretches of national highways, have been earmarked for cleanliness and beautification efforts.

This effort marks a continuation of the government’s focus on efficiency and cleanliness, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable governance and public service improvement.
