IKEA India has made a significant stride towards its sustainability goals by partnering with EKA Mobility, a leader in electric vehicle innovation, to electrify its last-mile delivery fleet. This collaboration is part of IKEA’s broader mission to reduce carbon emissions and enhance its eco-friendly operations across India.

EKA Mobility, backed by global powerhouses like Mitsui & Co., Ltd. of Japan and VDL Groep from the Netherlands, has already delivered 10 electric vans to IKEA, marking the beginning of a larger rollout across various regions in the country. The partnership is set to transform IKEA’s logistics operations, replacing traditional vehicles with state-of-the-art electric vans, and significantly lowering the carbon footprint of the retail giant.

These advanced electric vans from EKA Mobility are equipped with cutting-edge battery technology, ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost-effective performance, especially suited for urban environments. This move not only bolsters IKEA’s sustainability credentials but also sets a precedent for the retail sector in adopting green mobility solutions.

Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with IKEA is a pivotal moment in the evolution of urban logistics. By providing IKEA with our advanced electric vans, we are contributing to a cleaner environment and demonstrating the transformative potential of electric vehicles in the logistics industry.”

Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager at IKEA India, highlighted the broader vision behind this initiative, saying, “At IKEA India, our commitment to sustainable logistics goes beyond just adopting electric vehicles. We are dedicated to building an efficient infrastructure, fostering skill development, and investing in long-term, innovative solutions. As we expand in India with an EV-first approach, we’re more prepared than ever to address the challenges and seize the opportunities that come with it.”

This partnership marks a significant milestone in IKEA’s ongoing journey towards a fully electrified delivery network, reinforcing the company’s dedication to reducing its environmental impact while maintaining operational excellence.
