Tata Motors Accelerates EV Adoption with 250 New Fast-Charging Stations in Strategic Partnership

Mumbai, 21st August 2024: Tata Motors, a leader in India’s commercial vehicle sector, has announced a significant step forward in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure development by partnering with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd. This collaboration aims to bolster the nation’s EV ecosystem by establishing 250 fast-charging stations across more than 50 key cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi. These strategically placed charging hubs will augment Tata Motors’ existing network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points, paving the way for more widespread adoption of electric commercial vehicles.

As e-commerce, parcel, and courier service industries increasingly integrate EVs into their fleets for last-mile deliveries, the demand for reliable charging infrastructure has surged. Tata Motors, leveraging its deep understanding of commercial EV movement, will guide the selection of optimal locations and nearest dealerships for these new fast-charging stations. Delta Electronics will provide the necessary hardware, while Thunderplus Solutions will handle the installation and operation, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Commenting on the initiative, Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head – SCV&PU, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, emphasized the company’s commitment to making emission-free transportation more accessible. “By expanding the charging infrastructure on high-use routes, we aim to encourage more customers to choose electric commercial vehicles. This will not only enhance vehicle uptime and profitability but also contribute to a cleaner, greener environment,” Pathak stated.

Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India Pvt Ltd, highlighted the company’s role in this transformative project. “Our innovative, energy-efficient charging solutions are integral to enhancing the electric commercial vehicle experience nationwide. This collaboration marks a significant contribution to India’s electric cargo ecosystem,” said Nayak.

Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “We are thrilled to support this groundbreaking initiative, which aligns perfectly with our mission to promote sustainable transportation solutions across India. Through our campaign #HarGharThunder, we aim to make EV charging affordable and accessible, reducing charge anxiety and empowering more users to adopt electric vehicles,” Rajeev remarked.

Tata Motors continues to lead the charge in commercial EV solutions with its flagship Ace EV, a cutting-edge four-wheel e-cargo vehicle designed for last-mile deliveries. Supported by over 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres nationwide, the Ace EV is equipped with advanced features like a battery management system and Fleet Edge telematics, offering best-in-class uptime. This initiative reflects Tata Motors’ broader strategy to provide a holistic e-cargo mobility solution through collaborations within the Tata UniEVerse and partnerships with top financiers, making the Ace EV available at all Tata Motors commercial vehicle dealerships across India.
