Etihad Airways Marks 20 Years of Service to India with Special A380 Route Between Abu Dhabi and Mumbai

Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a tribute to two decades of successful operations in India, Etihad Airways is rolling out a unique celebration by introducing its iconic Airbus A380 on the Abu Dhabi-Mumbai route. From September 1 to December 31, 2024, the double-decker aircraft will serve this route three times a week, offering travelers an elevated experience as the airline commemorates its 20th anniversary of flying to Mumbai.

The decision to deploy the A380, typically reserved for long-haul flights, underscores Etihad’s deep-rooted relationship with India, which began with its first flight to Mumbai on September 26, 2004. Over the years, the airline has expanded its network to include nonstop services to 11 Indian cities, with plans for further growth, reinforcing its commitment to connecting Indian passengers with Abu Dhabi and the world.

In celebration of this milestone, Etihad is offering exclusive A380-themed fares, making luxury travel more accessible. Passengers can enjoy First class round-trip fares from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai for AED 8,380, and from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi for INR 190,383. Business class travelers can secure round-trip tickets for AED 2,380 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai, and INR 50,381 for the return journey from Mumbai. These special fares are available until August 25, 2024, for travel between September 1 and October 13.

Etihad’s introduction of a Hindi-language website further highlights its commitment to the Indian market, ensuring a more inclusive experience for its customers. This move, along with its sponsorship of the Chennai Super Kings and partnership with Bollywood star Katrina Kaif, reflects the airline’s strategic efforts to strengthen its brand presence in the region.

Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, expressed his excitement about the upcoming celebrations, stating, “Bringing the A380 to Mumbai for our 20th anniversary is a significant milestone for us. We’re proud to celebrate our long-standing connection with India by offering our customers the opportunity to experience the unparalleled luxury of the A380 on this special route.”

Passengers flying on the A380 can expect a superior travel experience. Economy class passengers will enjoy additional comfort with 68 Economy Extra legroom seats and 337 Economy Smart Seats, designed with innovative features for enhanced comfort. On the upper deck, 70 private Business Studios and nine luxurious First Apartments, complete with designer amenities and access to an exclusive shower room, promise a journey of ultimate luxury.

As Etihad prepares to operate its sixth A380 by early 2025, the airline continues to demonstrate its dedication to providing exceptional service to the Indian market. The four-month deployment of the A380 on the Mumbai route is just the beginning of several exciting initiatives that Etihad has planned for the region in the coming months.
