Mumbai, July 30, 2024: In a significant move to enhance educational opportunities for the children of its technicians, Tata Motors, India’s premier automobile manufacturer, has launched two new programs—’Vidyadhan’ and ‘Utkarsha’. These initiatives aim to make higher education more accessible for families of technicians working in Tata Motors’ manufacturing facilities across Pune, Lucknow, Jamshedpur, Dharwad, Sanand, and Pantnagar.
Empowering Education with ‘Vidyadhan’
The ‘Vidyadhan’ program offers education loans at concessional rates to support children of technicians who have successfully completed their 10th and 12th grades. This program is designed to ease the financial burden on families, enabling students to pursue higher education in any field of their choice. Eligible candidates can access loans up to Rs. 7.5 lakh, covering up to 95% of domestic education fees or up to 85% for international education fees. Tata Motors has partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) to offer these loans at significantly reduced interest rates—50% lower for boys and 70% lower for girls, transgender individuals, and specially-abled children. To qualify, students must be enrolled in a full-time graduate or postgraduate course of at least two years’ duration at recognized universities or AICTE-equivalent institutions in India or abroad.
Promoting Inclusivity with ‘Utkarsha’
The ‘Utkarsha’ scholarship program focuses on fostering inclusivity by providing annual scholarships to girls, transgender individuals, and specially-abled children. These scholarships, amounting to Rs. 25,000 per year, are available to students who have successfully completed their 10th or 12th grades with a minimum score of 60% and have secured admission in a recognized university or AICTE-equivalent institution in India or abroad.
Commitment to Quality Education
Sitaram Kandi, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Tata Motors, emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, “Quality education is vital for progress and development. With these programs, we are making higher education more accessible and enabling the next generation of our hardworking technicians to fulfill their own dreams as well as those of their parents. While the children can focus on studying beyond the 10th and 12th grades in any field of their choice, the parents do not have to worry anymore about the financing required for it. They will have better opportunities to build a successful career and life with the right qualifications and skills.”
Tata Motors’ commitment to supporting education reflects its broader vision of fostering sustainable growth and development by investing in the future of its employees and their families.
