Bremen, Germany – The Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen has achieved a significant milestone in its 46-year history: the production of its 10 millionth vehicle. The landmark car, a fully electric EQE, underscores the plant’s commitment to electrification. Electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids have become integral to Bremen’s production line. The EQC, introduced in 2019, marked Mercedes-Benz’s foray into mass production of EVs, with the EQE following in 2022 on the same assembly lines used for conventional vehicles. Bremen is also the lead plant for the C-Class and oversees the global production of the GLC. In the past year, approximately 277,000 vehicles rolled off Bremen’s assembly lines.
In celebration of this production milestone, the plant showcased the very first vehicle produced in Bremen back in 1978: a Mercedes-Benz S123 T-model.
“The 10-million vehicle milestone highlights the efficiency and flexibility of the Bremen plant. Congratulations to all colleagues for this outstanding team achievement. Their dedication and commitment to building the perfect Mercedes-Benz for each customer are what make the success of this plant possible,” said Jörg Burzer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Production, Quality and Supply Chain Management.
Michael Frieß, the plant manager and head of production at the Bremen site, reflected on the plant’s history: “In 1978, our first car rolled off the line, and today we celebrate the 10 millionth vehicle made in Bremen. This is a special milestone for our plant. I am deeply grateful to all the colleagues who have contributed to the production of these 10 million vehicles and have thus written a chapter of Bremen’s automotive history. We were the first plant to integrate electric vehicles into mass production in 2019, and since then, we have continued to build for the future.”
Michael Peters, Chairman of the Works Council of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen, added: “For all Bremeners, it is truly a cause for celebration that we have been able to build so many vehicles with the star in such a short time. For me personally, 10 million vehicles is a very impressive number. We have impressively demonstrated that car manufacturing in Bremen is a team sport. 10 million vehicles from Bremen are proof of the quality work of everyone here in the plant. I am proud that our performance has laid a solid foundation for future production milestones.”
