$531 Million Investment Enhances Plant’s Capabilities and Ensures Long-term Job Stability

SAN ANTONIO (June 21, 2024) – Toyota Texas is set to expand its San Antonio operations with a $531 million investment, creating more than 400 new, high-quality jobs. This significant growth will include a new 500,000-square-foot facility dedicated to drivetrain parts production, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to its U.S. operations.

“Our team is ready to seize this opportunity to enhance our plant’s capabilities and workforce,” said Susann Kazunas, President of Toyota Texas. “We are proud to celebrate the innovative spirit and commitment of our team members and look forward to welcoming 400 new employees.”

Toyota Texas, a leading producer of trucks and SUVs, assembled over 181,000 vehicles last year. This latest investment brings Toyota’s total investment in the San Antonio plant to more than $4.7 billion.

“Texas is proud to host a global powerhouse like Toyota,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “This new $531 million investment in San Antonio will create over 400 well-paying jobs, highlighting Texas’ unmatched business-friendly environment and skilled workforce.”

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg echoed these sentiments, praising Toyota’s continued investment in the local community. “This expansion is a tremendous victory for San Antonio, bringing stable, high-quality jobs to our city. We value our partnership with Toyota and look forward to a bright future together.”

The investment underscores Toyota’s commitment to advanced manufacturing technologies and flexibility, enhancing the company’s diverse capabilities across North America.

“It’s exciting to see Toyota expand in Southern Bexar County,” said Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai. “This initiative demonstrates Toyota’s confidence in our future, bringing new jobs and boosting our local economy.”

Christopher Rivera, a Toyota Texas team leader with 17 years of experience, highlighted the company’s commitment to job stability and growth. “This expansion brings new capabilities to our plant and continues Toyota’s dedication to our team.”

Toyota Texas is the exclusive home of the Tundra truck and all-hybrid Sequoia SUV, both assembled on the same production line.
