Volkswagen India Elevates Safety Standards with 6 Airbags Across 5-Star GNCAP Rated Lineup

Mumbai: In a significant move to bolster vehicle safety, Volkswagen India has announced the standardization of 6 airbags across all variants of its 5-Star GNCAP safety-rated models, Taigun and Virtus. This initiative enhances the safety of what is already recognized as India’s safest portfolio of cars.

Since their introduction to the Indian market, over one lakh families have chosen the GNCAP 5-Star safety-rated Taigun and Virtus as their preferred mobility solutions. The Volkswagen Taigun alone has contributed to over 61% of sales, helping the company achieve the milestone of 100,000+ sales for its India 2.0 cars. The Volkswagen Virtus has also established itself as a leading premium mid-size sedan, appreciated for its robust package and performance.

Nearly 40% of Volkswagen customers have opted for the highly coveted GT variants of both the Taigun and Virtus, indicating that performance remains a key factor in their purchasing decisions.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, expressed pride in the company’s safety achievements: “Today, we take great pride in announcing our portfolio of India 2.0 cars offering 6 airbags as standard across the line-up. With this, not only are we showcasing our commitment towards safer mobility but also reaffirming our core belief of safety being a key product pillar for Volkswagen India. We are also delighted to have achieved the over 1 lakh sales milestone by the Taigun and Virtus. We are grateful to our customers and will continue to offer aspirational, premium and competitive product offerings for the market.”

In response to customer demand, Volkswagen India has expanded its variant lineup, introducing the GT Line based on the 1.0L TSI and the GT Plus Sport based on the 1.5L TSI EVO engine. This move ensures that Volkswagen’s German-engineered and safety-focused vehicles meet diverse consumer needs.

To make the brand more accessible, Volkswagen has expanded its network to include 208 sales and pre-owned car outlets, along with 142 service touchpoints across 155 cities. The brand has also made significant strides in after-sales services, offering competitive Total Cost of Ownership and transparency.

Volkswagen India remains dedicated to redefining the mobility experience by offering customers unparalleled driving experiences, premium aesthetics, and a variety of options to suit individual preferences. The company will continue to drive innovation, design, and performance through its product offerings.
