New BMW 5 Series Touring Models Launch with Expanded Electric and Hybrid Options

Munich – BMW has unveiled its latest offerings in the 5 Series lineup, featuring the market debut of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the first-ever all-electric BMW i5 Touring. These additions mark a significant step in the brand’s push towards electrification, with more plug-in hybrid and diesel variants set to follow in summer 2024.

BMW enthusiasts can now find the all-electric BMW i5 Touring and the BMW 5 Series Touring equipped with a four-cylinder diesel engine at dealerships. By mid-2024, the range will expand to include additional plug-in hybrid models and variants with in-line six-cylinder engines for both the 5 Series Sedan and Touring.

The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series Touring combines sporty performance with premium features, now enhanced with electric drive options. The BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring stands out with up to 601 hp and a range of 274 to 313 miles. Meanwhile, the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring offers up to 340 hp and an impressive range of up to 348 miles.

For diesel enthusiasts, the BMW 520d Touring and BMW 520d xDrive Touring are now available, featuring a four-cylinder diesel engine paired with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, delivering 197 hp.

In summer 2024, the new BMW 5 Series Touring will also see the introduction of plug-in hybrid models. The BMW 530e Touring and the BMW 530e xDrive Touring will feature a combination of a four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor, providing a system output of 299 hp and electric ranges of up to 55 miles. The plug-in hybrid options will also be available in the BMW 5 Series Sedan.

Additionally, a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine will be added to the lineup in mid-2024. The BMW 540d xDrive Sedan and Touring models will feature this new engine, paired with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, delivering 303 hp and a maximum torque of 494 lb-ft.

Prices for the new models in Germany, including VAT, are as follows:

  • BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring: 101,500 euros (INR 91.96 lakh)
  • BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring: 72,200 euros
  • BMW 530e Touring: 66,850 euros
  • BMW 530e xDrive Touring: 69,450 euros
  • BMW 540d xDrive Touring: 71,050 euros
  • BMW 520d Touring: 61,750 euros (INR 55.95 lakh)
  • BMW 520d xDrive Touring: 64,350 euros
  • BMW 530e xDrive Sedan: 67,450 euros
  • BMW 540d xDrive Sedan: 69,050 euros

With these new offerings, BMW continues to expand its electrified and hybrid vehicle lineup, providing more options for consumers seeking both performance and sustainability.
