Kia India Records Impressive 3.9% Year-on-Year Growth in May 2024, Surpasses 2.5 Lakh Export Milestone

New Delhi, 1st June 2024 – Kia India, one of the nation’s fastest-growing premium carmakers, reported robust sales figures for May 2024, achieving a significant year-on-year growth of 3.9%. The company sold 19,500 units in the domestic market, up from 18,766 units in May 2023.

The newly launched Sonet, introduced in January 2024, became the best-selling model for Kia India, with 7,433 units sold in May. It was followed by the Seltos and Carens, which recorded sales of 6,736 and 5,316 units, respectively. Kia also dispatched 2,304 units to overseas markets, bringing the total production figure to 21,804 units for the month. This milestone allowed Kia India to surpass the 2.5 lakh export mark, distributing vehicles to over 100 countries. The Seltos led the export numbers, accounting for almost 60% of the shipments, followed by the Sonet and Carens with 34% and 7%, respectively.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, commented, “This year, we have aggressively introduced new competitive variants of our models, significantly boosting our sales. With a robust network expansion strategy, we aim to maintain this momentum and soon cross the 1 million domestic sales milestone.”

In just under five years, Kia has established itself as a leading car brand in India, selling over 9.8 lakh units domestically, with the Seltos contributing nearly half of the total sales. Looking ahead, Kia India plans to launch its global models, the World Car of the Year EV9 and the new Carnival, in the second half of the year.
