Škoda India Elevates Safety Standards: Introduces Six Airbags as Standard in Kushaq and Slavia for 2024

Mumbai, April 30, 2024 — Škoda Auto India has once again raised the bar in vehicle safety with its latest announcement. As part of the MY24 (Model Year 2024) updates, the automotive giant has declared that six airbags will now come standard across all variants of both the Kushaq SUV and the Slavia sedan. This significant enhancement solidifies Škoda’s commitment to safety in its India 2.0 product lineup, which is not only designed for Indian roads but also for global markets.

The introduction of six standard airbags in every variant of the Kushaq and Slavia marks a pivotal step in Škoda’s safety initiative. Both vehicles, which are based on the MQB-A0-IN platform tailored for India, had previously achieved 5-star ratings in the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) for both adult and child occupant protection. This latest update aims to fortify an already robust safety profile.

Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Škoda Auto India, emphasized the company’s dedication to safety, stating, “Safety has always been a cornerstone of the Škoda brand philosophy. Our latest update to include six airbags across all variants demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest safety standards, reinforcing our position as a family-focused manufacturer.”

The MY24 updates are not just about safety but also about enhancing the overall value and appeal of the Kushaq and Slavia. Starting with the base Active models and extending to the top-tier Style, Monte Carlo, and Elegance Editions, the updated model lineup ensures that all customers benefit from high safety standards.

In addition to the safety upgrades, Škoda Auto India has been continuously updating its offerings. The final quarter of 2023 saw the introduction of segment-first features such as electric seats for the driver and co-driver and an illuminated footwell area. Moreover, the familiar 25.4 cm infotainment system, complete with Škoda Play Apps, now connects wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and has been made available even in the mid-level Ambition trims, enhancing the user experience across the board.

The ongoing product updates align with Škoda’s strategy of frequent innovation. Alongside these enhancements, the company is preparing for the global debut of an all-new compact SUV in India in 2025 and has reintroduced the Superb luxury sedan in response to sustained customer demand.

By making advanced safety features standard across its range and planning future introductions, Škoda Auto India continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in automotive safety and innovation, ensuring its vehicles are not only made in India but also ready for the world.
