New Delhi, May 1, 2024 – Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a frontrunner in the Indian premium car market, has announced a robust sales figure of 10,867 units for April 2024. This marks a significant rise from the 7,676 units sold in the corresponding month last year, illustrating a robust year-on-year growth.
The company achieved a split of 4,351 units in domestic sales and 6,516 units through exports during the month. This performance represents a shift in focus towards strengthening its export portfolio, which saw a dramatic 175% increase compared to April last year.
Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at HCIL, commented on the sales performance, noting the strategic production adjustments made during the month. “Our planned production volumes in April were lower due to the switchover to producing our Elevate and City models with a six-airbag standard, aligning our dispatches to this new safety benchmark,” explained Behl. “Simultaneously, our Elevate model has continued to significantly boost our export volumes.”
In April 2023, HCIL reported 5,313 units in domestic sales and 2,363 units in exports, indicating a strategic pivot towards expanding its footprint in international markets this year. The strong export figures underscore HCIL’s commitment to enhancing its global market presence, while the domestic market continues to adapt to the new safety features integrated into popular models.
