Chennai, April 11, 2024 – In an electrifying development that positions India as a powerhouse in the global electric vehicle (EV) market, Citroën has charged ahead as the first multinational car manufacturer to export Made-in-India EVs, commencing with the Ë-C3’s journey to Indonesia. This landmark move, flagged off from Kamarajar Port, signals a new era of international automotive exchange, driven by sustainability and innovation.
Aditya Jairaj, CEO & MD of Stellantis India, reflected on this monumental achievement, stating, “India’s role as a strategic hub for Stellantis extends beyond its market—it’s a source of our strength in engineering and technology. Shipping the Ë-C3 to global customers embodies our commitment to India’s growth and to fostering a sustainable future of mobility worldwide.”
The ceremony was graced by Lise Talbot Barré, Consul General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai, who lauded the initiative as a testament to the robust Indo-French industrial cooperation. “The Citroën e-C3 not only represents our mutual goals for cleaner mobility but also heralds the Indo-French contribution towards a sustainably developed Indo-Pacific region,” she stated.
Boasting a range of 320 km certified by ARAI MIDC, the Ë-C3 sets a new standard in the EV segment. With options for 100% DC Fast Charge and 15 AMP Home Charging, alongside 13 exterior color combinations and 47 customization options, it offers unmatched versatility and convenience to its users.
This venture not only showcases Citroën’s excellence in manufacturing and engineering but also aligns with India’s ambitions to be at the forefront of the global EV industry, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.
Following the Ë-C3, Citroën plans to extend its footprint by exporting the C3 model to ASEAN and African markets, underpinning Stellantis’ mission to lead in the transition towards a carbon-neutral future, as part of their Dare Forward 2030 vision.
