In a bold move electrifying the automobile industry, Lexus announced its 2024 lineup for the UX small SUV, ditching traditional petrol power for a fully electrified range. Embracing the future, the UX will now be available solely with either a hybrid (HEV) or a battery-electric (BEV) powertrain, showcasing Lexus’ commitment to greener, more efficient driving.
The transition is headlined by the UX 250h’s transformation into the UX 300h, flaunting an 11kW power surge to a formidable 146kW, with a starting price of $55,370 (INR 30.12 lakh) plus on-road costs. This boost is a testament to Lexus’ relentless innovation, coming on the heels of a major leap forward for the all-electric UX 300e, which received a beefier 72.8kWh battery, catapulting its range by an extra 200 kms, priced from $80,720 (INR 43.91 lakh) plus on-road costs.
The UX 200’s petrol-powered days are numbered, at least in Australia, as Lexus responds to the local market’s growing appetite for electric and hybrid vehicles. This shift is rounded off with the latest Lexus Safety System technologies, ensuring the UX range is not only more efficient but safer than ever.
John Pappas, Lexus Australia’s Chief Executive, couldn’t hide his excitement about the refreshed UX 300h, praising its blend of performance, design, and luxury. The model’s upgrade includes an enhanced engine and hybrid system, promising better fuel economy and a reduced carbon footprint.
Not to be overshadowed, the UX’s aesthetics and convenience features received their share of upgrades, from a larger digital instrument cluster to over-the-air updates for the latest infotainment tech. And with new paint options like Sonic Copper, the 2024 UX is as stylish as it is sustainable.
Rounding out the package, Lexus offers unparalleled ownership perks, from complimentary service loan cars to exclusive access to luxury events, ensuring UX drivers enjoy a blend of performance, luxury, and eco-consciousness unmatched in the small SUV market.
