In a spectacular blend of tradition and innovation, MG Motor is set to electrify the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024, marking a monumental 100 years of motoring mastery with a dash of electric flair. The iconic Central Feature at the esteemed event will glow with the aura of MG, spotlighting the brand’s centenary in what promises to be an unforgettable celebration.
Taking the lead in this year’s tribute is the MG Cyberster EV roadster, a shining beacon of Gerry Judah’s annual sculptural extravaganza. For the first time, MG will bask in the limelight in front of the grand Goodwood House, showcasing the Cyberster—a beacon of new-generation performance that charges into MG’s storied legacy with groundbreaking zeal.
The Cyberster’s debut later this year marks a significant leap into the future for MG, electrifying the brand’s celebrated history with a performance car that’s as thrilling as it is innovative. Its pride of place at the world’s premier motoring event signals a high-voltage highlight in MG’s centennial festivities, sparking excitement from the UK to the global stage.
The Duke of Richmond, the visionary behind the Festival of Speed, expressed his excitement, stating, “After the Cyberster’s striking world debut last year, we’re thrilled to have MG back to celebrate their 100 years in such grand fashion. Their Central Feature debut is a tribute befitting MG’s rich history and its innovative future, perfectly aligning with this year’s theme from ‘Horseless to Hybrid’.”
MG’s history of lightweight, simple, yet ingeniously engineered vehicles resonates with the Duke’s familial legacy and the brand’s enduring connection to Goodwood, echoing a shared commitment to innovation and the evolution of motorsport.
Aiden He, CEO of MG Nordic & BeNeLux, reflected on MG’s century-long journey from pioneering the popular sports car to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. “The Cyberster exemplifies our ongoing mission to create accessible, innovative, and engaging vehicles, and we’re eager to showcase this next chapter in our story at the Festival of Speed,” he remarked.
To kickstart the centenary celebration, the Cyberster was unveiled at Goodwood House alongside a classic: the 1964 Mk1 MGB Roadster, bridging the gap between MG’s illustrious past and its electrified future. Both models are poised to steal the spotlight at the Festival, underscoring MG’s legacy and its forward-looking vision.
MG is not just revisiting the famous hill climb in 2024 but also gearing up to announce more debuts as the Festival approaches. Stay tuned for more electrifying updates as MG gears up to celebrate a century of automotive innovation at the Goodwood Estate, South Sussex, from July 11th to 14th, 2024.
