Mladá Boleslav, 22 February, 2024 – It’s a jolt of joy at Škoda Auto as they thunder past a striking milestone, producing over 200,000 units of their electrifying Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé models. The 200,000th vehicle, a dazzling white Enyaq Coupé Sportline, glided off the line on 16 February, marking a high-voltage moment in Škoda’s e-mobility strategy.
The Enyaq has been more than just a vehicle; it’s been a powerhouse leading Škoda’s charge into the future. “The model family’s electrifying success is a clear signal that we’re on the right track with our strategy,” said Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics. In 2023 alone, the Enyaq series bolted to new heights, selling a record-breaking 81,700 units, a surge of 52.1% over 2022. This accomplishment shines a spotlight on Škoda’s ambitious plan to expand its electric range, introducing six new electric models in the next few years.
The Enyaq series, Škoda’s first venture based on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB), sparked a revolution in the company. A hefty investment of 32 million euros transformed Škoda’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav, enabling the production of both MEB and combustion engine-based MQB models.
In the Czech Republic, the Enyaq series is electrifying the market, capturing a quarter of the electric vehicle share, and leading the charge in Slovakia and other countries. The 2024 model year brings even more energy to the series, with models like the Enyaq 85, 85x, and RS featuring more potent electric motors and intuitive software updates. These enhancements boost the range to over 560 kilometers for the SUV version and reduce charging times significantly.
Škoda Auto’s commitment to electrifying its future is unwavering, with a 5.6 billion euro investment in its e-mobility strategy and increased battery production capacity. The upcoming launch of the all-electric Elroq will further expand Škoda’s BEV portfolio, as the company accelerates into the compact SUV segment with electric enthusiasm.
