PARIS – Buckle up for a charming blend of history and modern tech as Bentley Motors gears up to introduce its pint-sized prodigy, the ‘Blower Jnr’, at the prestigious Retromobile classic event in Paris. This road-legal marvel, an 85% scale model of the British brand’s legendary 1929 4 ½-litre Supercharged Bentley, is set to steal the spotlight with its delightful design and electric flair.
The ‘Blower Jnr’ emerges from a creative partnership between Bentley’s Heritage Collection and The Little Car Company of Oxfordshire. Meticulously crafted with 700 individual parts, it mirrors the standards of its full-sized forebear. Drawing inspiration from Team Car No. 2, piloted by the celebrated ‘Bentley Boy’ Sir Tim Birkin, this mini marvel is a nod to the world’s most renowned and valuable Bentley.
Don’t let its size fool you! Powered by a 48V electric powertrain and a zippy 20 bhp (15 kW) motor, the ‘Blower Jnr’ boasts a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h) in the UK and EU (25 mph/40 km/h in the USA, thanks to regulations) and promises an impressive range of 65 miles (105 km) on a single charge.
This tiny titan is not just a showpiece; it’s built for the road. The iconic front-mounted supercharger now houses a charging port, while the electric motor takes pride of place across the rear axle. The fuel pressure pump has been cleverly repurposed as a drive mode selector, and the steering wheel is wrapped in traditional rope, just like the original.
For the collectors out there, the first 99 ‘Blower Jnrs’ will be First Edition Models, complete with special badging and an engraved ‘1 of 99’ plaque, ensuring exclusivity and charm.
Set to make its European debut at Retromobile, held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from January 31 to February 4, 2024, the Bentley Blower Jnr is ready to turn heads and capture hearts, proving that good things indeed come in small, electrifying packages.
