Honda’s Prologue to an Electric Future: New SUV Charges Ahead with Best-in-Class Range and a Price That Won’t Shock You

In a groundbreaking move, Honda has electrified the SUV market with the introduction of the all-electric 2024 Honda Prologue, setting a new standard in the class with an EPA range rating of an impressive 296 miles on a full charge. This trailblazing SUV, marking Honda’s first foray into the all-electric vehicle segment, is set to roll into dealerships this spring with a starting price of $47,400 (INR 39.40 lakh), before any government incentives or tax credits.

The Prologue, a spacious and adventure-ready SUV, aims to accelerate Honda’s electrification strategy. Boasting top-of-the-line tech features and comprehensive charging solutions, it’s designed to reassure new EV buyers about embracing an electric future. The Prologue will be available in various trims, with the entry-level EX model providing a wealth of features like 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, Google built-in, wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a suite of Honda Sensing safety technologies.

Lance Woelfer, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, emphasized the Prologue’s significance in Honda’s journey towards achieving 100% zero-emissions vehicle sales by 2040. He expressed excitement about introducing Honda’s first all-electric SUV to customers and the readiness of Honda dealerships for this electrifying new addition.

Under the hood, the Prologue doesn’t disappoint. The two-wheel drive models are equipped with a front-mounted single motor, delivering a solid 212 hp and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. The higher-end Prologue Elite, along with select other trims, features standard all-wheel drive with a dual motor setup, ramping up the power to 288 hp and 333 lb.-ft. of torque for an exhilarating driving experience.

Recharging is a breeze with the Prologue’s DC fast charging capability, allowing the 85 kWh lithium-ion battery to gain 65 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes. Honda goes the extra mile in providing comprehensive charging solutions. Prologue customers can choose from three different charging packages included in the MSRP, ranging from public charging credits to a combination of home charging equipment and installation credit.

Moreover, Honda is pioneering in offering its customers credits across multiple charging networks in the United States, including EVgo and Electrify America. First-time Honda EV owners will also benefit from 60 kWh of complimentary public charging from Electrify America, included with each available charging package.

With the launch of the Prologue, Honda is not just introducing a new vehicle but is leading the charge in the electrification era, offering an all-electric SUV that combines the thrill of driving with the benefits of sustainability.
