Milton Keynes, Jan 11, 2024 – Volkswagen has officially opened UK order books for its latest offering, the third-generation Tiguan, starting from £34,060 RRP on-the-road (INR 35.97 lakh). As the brand’s global best-seller, the new Tiguan boasts a comprehensive redesign, featuring the latest in design and technology, much of it shared with the Touareg luxury SUV.
The Tiguan’s exterior has been significantly revamped, aligning with the design language of recent Volkswagen models. It features new IQ.LED headlights, a glass-covered horizontal bar, and an optional LED strip in place of the traditional radiator grille. The vehicle’s aerodynamics are enhanced by active air curtains, contributing to a 15% improvement in efficiency over the previous model. The rear design includes a new horizontal LED strip, adding to the car’s distinctive look.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Tiguan houses a plethora of innovative features. Built on the MQB-evo platform, the vehicle includes new systems like the fourth-generation modular infotainment matrix (MIB4) with a 12.9-inch central display and an optional 15-inch screen. The interior features a new multi-function driving experience switch with an integrated OLED display, allowing for easy control of various vehicle functions.
The new Tiguan’s driving dynamics are significantly improved thanks to the MQB-evo platform, which facilitates a new generation of adaptive chassis control, DCC Pro. This system, in conjunction with the Vehicle Dynamics Manager, enhances handling and safety. New ergoActive seats with advanced adjustment and massage functions add to the comfort level, further elevating the Tiguan’s appeal.
James Russell, Volkswagen UK’s Product Manager for Tiguan, commented, “The new Tiguan combines advanced technology, comfort, and design, making it one of the most modern mid-sized SUVs available. It mirrors our Touareg luxury SUV in compact form.”
The Tiguan is available in four trims: Tiguan, Life, Elegance, and R-Line, with a variety of powertrains, including mild petrol hybrids, a turbocharged diesel engine, and upcoming eHybrid and turbocharged petrol engines. The eHybrids offer a pure-electric range of about 100 km, and all models feature an automatic direct-shift gearbox (DSG), with 4MOTION all-wheel drive available on select models.
