BMW M5 Touring, M3 Sedan Among Five Limited-Edition M Cars Heading to India

Gurugram: BMW India is bringing one of its most enthusiast-focused collections yet to the country, announcing the limited-run “100 Jahre Nürburgring” editions of five BMW M performance cars along with the BMW Motorrad M 1000 R ahead of the German circuit’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

The biggest news for Indian enthusiasts is the arrival of the BMW M5 Touring, which will officially make its India debut through the anniversary collection. It will be joined by the BMW M2 Coupé, all-new BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupé and BMW M5 Sedan.

BMW Motorrad India will meanwhile offer limited units of the BMW M 1000 R as part of the same programme.

Pre-orders for the vehicles have opened through authorised BMW and BMW Motorrad dealerships in India.

For a market more accustomed to performance SUVs and sedans, an M5 with a large luggage compartment is perhaps the most practical way yet to make unreasonable amounts of performance look perfectly sensible.

M5 Touring finally reaches India

The first-ever BMW M5 Touring combines BMW M’s M Hybrid drivetrain with the practicality of an estate body style, giving Indian buyers access to a model category that has developed a considerable following among performance-car enthusiasts internationally.

BMW describes the Touring as combining supercar-rivalling performance with everyday versatility, long-distance comfort and racetrack capability.

Its introduction represents the first opportunity for Indian customers to officially experience BMW M’s modern Touring philosophy.

The Touring will be sold alongside the M5 Sedan, providing two interpretations of BMW’s latest-generation high-performance M5 formula.

Five BMW M cars form anniversary collection

The “100 Jahre Nürburgring” collection comprises:

  • BMW M2 Coupé
  • All-new BMW M3 Sedan
  • BMW M4 Coupé
  • BMW M5 Sedan
  • First-ever BMW M5 Touring

The cars will be produced in extremely limited numbers and receive model-specific cosmetic treatments inspired by the Nürburgring.

BMW says the anniversary vehicles will be offered in exclusive Nürburgring Green, developed specifically for the collection, as well as Sapphire Black metallic with green accents.

Design elements include a “100 Years” logo, “Nürburgring since 1927” lettering and a silhouette of the circuit.

The historic Nürburgring Green colour serves as the common visual theme across the range, supplemented by individual graphics, materials and accent colours depending on the model.

Special interiors and carbon-fibre equipment

Inside, the BMW M cars feature black interiors contrasted by green and white stitching as well as edition-specific door sills.

The inline six-cylinder models receive an M Alcantara steering wheel with matching stitching and a 12 o’clock marker, along with M Carbon bucket seats with BMW Individual upholstery and carbon-fibre trim.

The BMW M5 models receive an M steering wheel carrying the same anniversary design theme.

BMW’s treatment is therefore more than a special paint shade and a badge, although collectors will inevitably spend considerable time discussing precisely those details.

M2, M3 and M4 receive Nürburgring treatment

According to BMW, the BMW M2 xDrive combines its inline six-cylinder engine and compact proportions with an M Carbon roof, M Carbon bucket seats, special paintwork and Nürburgring-specific graphics.

The all-new BMW M3 Competition xDrive receives Nürburgring graphics, an M Carbon roof and green wheel accents. BMW also lists BMW M Ignite, which it says optimises operation under high loads.

The BMW M4 Competition xDrive receives an M Carbon roof, BMW M stripes and edition-specific detailing. BMW M Ignite is also included on the M4.

For the BMW M5 Sedan, anniversary details include an M Carbon roof, M light-alloy wheels with green accents and black Nordschleife embroidery.

The BMW M5 Touring uses a steel roof featuring stripes in an exclusive design, adapting the common anniversary theme to its estate body style.

BMW M 1000 R joins the celebration

BMW Motorrad India will also introduce a special version of the M 1000 R.

The motorcycle receives a painted fuel tank featuring a Nürburgring silhouette, an anniversary-design airbox cover and an individual “one of 100” marking.

It also features carbon wheels with Nürburgring Green accent stripes and an Alcantara-look seat embroidered with “100”.

Black components including the rear swingarm and rear frame complete the design treatment.

BMW describes the M 1000 R as its hyper-naked interpretation of Superbike-derived performance for both road and circuit use.

Why Nürburgring matters to BMW M

The anniversary collection commemorates 100 years of the Nürburgring, which opened in Germany’s Eifel Mountains in 1927.

Its famous Nordschleife measures 20.8 kilometres and contains more than 150 corners and bends along with major elevation changes, earning it the long-standing nickname “Green Hell.”

The circuit has played an important role in BMW M vehicle development, with performance models subjected to intensive testing there before entering production.

BMW also points to its competition record at the circuit, saying it is the most successful manufacturer in the Nürburgring 24 Hours with 21 overall victories.

That relationship provides the basis for the company’s anniversary slogan:

“Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets.”

The special editions arrive as BMW prepares to celebrate a century of one of motorsport’s most influential circuits. For Indian enthusiasts, however, the anniversary has an additional significance: it finally opens the door to the BMW M5 Touring, bringing one of BMW M’s most distinctive combinations of performance and practicality to the country — even if only a fortunate few will get the keys.
