Maruti Suzuki Sells 2.36 Lakh Vehicles in September; Passenger Vehicle Sales Hit 181,838 Units

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 236,013 units in September 2026, compared with 189,665 units in September 2025, supported by higher domestic passenger vehicle sales and a modest increase in exports.

The company’s September total comprised 185,252 units of domestic sales, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, 6,542 units supplied to other OEMs, and 44,219 units exported.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 181,838 units, substantially higher than the 132,820 units recorded in the same month last year.

Utility vehicles record strong increase

Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle category was one of the biggest contributors to the September performance. The segment, which includes models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6, recorded sales of 78,911 units, against 48,695 units in September 2025.

The company’s mini, compact and mid-size passenger car category — comprising models including the Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, S-Presso, Swift and WagonR — accounted for 91,887 units, compared with 74,090 units a year earlier.

Van sales, represented by the Eeco, rose to 11,040 units from 10,035 units in September 2025.

Together, these three passenger vehicle categories took Maruti Suzuki’s domestic PV tally to 181,838 units for the month.

Super Carry sales increase

In the light commercial vehicle segment, the Super Carry recorded sales of 3,414 units, up from 2,891 units in September last year.

This took Maruti Suzuki’s combined domestic sales of passenger vehicles and LCVs to 185,252 units, compared with 135,711 units in September 2025.

Sales to other original equipment manufacturers, however, moved in the opposite direction. The company supplied 6,542 units to other OEMs, down from 11,750 units in the corresponding month last year.

After including OEM supplies, total domestic sales stood at 191,794 units, against 147,461 units a year earlier.

Exports climb to 44,219 units

Maruti Suzuki exported 44,219 vehicles in September 2026, compared with 42,204 units in September 2025.

That pushed overall sales — domestic volumes plus exports — to 236,013 units for the month. In other words, even with OEM supplies losing some momentum, stronger retail categories provided more than enough horsepower to keep the overall number moving upward.

April-September sales cross 1.37 million units

For the April-September period of FY 2026-27, Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 1,379,378 units, compared with 1,078,735 units during the corresponding period of FY 2025-26.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales during the first six months of the financial year reached 1,080,240 units, up from 795,446 units in the year-ago period.

Utility vehicles contributed 455,692 units, while the mini, compact and mid-size category accounted for 551,094 units. Eeco sales stood at 73,454 units.

Including the Super Carry, domestic PV and LCV sales reached 1,100,260 units, compared with 812,413 units in the corresponding period last year.

Sales to other OEMs stood at 46,263 units, lower than 58,863 units a year earlier, while exports increased to 232,855 units from 207,459 units.

Maruti Suzuki’s September numbers underline the growing importance of utility vehicles within its portfolio while also showing continued strength in its traditional small and compact car business. With cumulative sales already above 1.37 million units in the first half of FY 2026-27, the company’s performance in the coming months will offer a clearer picture of whether the stronger domestic momentum can be sustained through the remainder of the financial year.
