Sonalika Hits 1 Lakh YTD Tractor Sales in Record Six Months

New Delhi: Sonalika Tractors has crossed the 1 lakh mark in year-to-date overall tractor sales during April-September 2026, achieving in six months a volume that the company said had taken a full year to reach eight years ago.

The milestone comes during Sonalika’s 30th anniversary year and marks the company’s fastest-ever journey to 1,00,000 tractor sales.

Sonalika attributed the performance to improvements across its tractor portfolio, closer engagement with farmers, production planning and coordinated execution across its dealer network.

The company said the achievement reflects the broader growth of its operations over the years, from annual sales of 50,000 tractors to reaching 1,00,000 units within the first six months of the current financial year.

The numbers also arrive ahead of India’s peak festive season, traditionally an important period for automobile and tractor demand.

To prepare for higher customer demand, Sonalika said it has strengthened product availability and recorded its highest-ever monthly production of 19,000 tractors at its manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Its dealer network has also been aligned to respond more quickly to demand during the festive period.

For a tractor manufacturer, breaking records increasingly appears to mean creating another target almost immediately — a philosophy the company links to its “Khud Se Jeetne Ka DUM” campaign.

Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said, “The biggest sign of progress is when we surpass ourselves. That is the spirit behind our ‘Khud Se Jeetne Ka DUM’ – the courage, the fire and the restlessness to keep pushing beyond what we have already achieved. When we crossed 50,000 annual tractor sales, our hunger was to reach 1,00,000 annual tractor sales. When we reached 1,00,000, we challenged ourselves again: could we achieve it in half the time of 6 months instead? Today, we have answered that ambition with our fastest-ever performance.”

He added, “This achievement proves that our hunger to go further is alive and growing. And this DUM belongs to all of us – every person at ITL, every channel partner and every farmer whose journey we are privileged to share. When a dream becomes a shared ambition, passion becomes infectious and extraordinary achievements become possible. Together, we have surpassed ourselves once again and we have now set our sights higher.”

Three Decades of Operations

Founded in 1996, Sonalika Tractors is part of International Tractors Limited and is among India’s leading tractor manufacturers. The company describes itself as India’s No. 1 tractor export brand and says it has a presence across more than 150 countries.

Its manufacturing operations are centred in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, where Sonalika operates an integrated tractor manufacturing facility serving a range of domestic and international farming requirements.

The company is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, having expanded from its origins in Punjab into a tractor business with a substantial international footprint.

Sonalika is also a Fortune 500 India organisation and has sought to differentiate itself in the tractor market through initiatives including the public disclosure of tractor prices and service costs on its website.

The latest sales milestone gives Sonalika added momentum heading into the festive and agricultural demand season. More importantly, reaching the 1 lakh mark in half a year illustrates how quickly the scale of India’s tractor industry — and the manufacturers competing within it — has evolved over the past decade.
