Nawgati User Base Tops 3.5 Million as Drivers Turn to Real-Time Fuel Station Data

New Delhi: Fuel-tech and mobility infrastructure company Nawgati has crossed 3.5 million users in India, as more motorists turn to real-time information on fuel station queues, availability and prices to reduce time spent waiting at pumps.

Fuel station congestion remains a recurring problem in several parts of India, particularly during peak hours. According to Nawgati, drivers can sometimes spend close to an hour waiting to refuel — a delay that can be particularly costly for commercial drivers whose earnings depend on time spent on the road.

The Nawgati Fuelling App seeks to address that information gap by providing users with live station-level information on queues, fuel availability and pricing, allowing drivers to assess conditions before reaching a station.

For a private motorist, a long queue may mean a delayed appointment. For a cab or commercial driver, however, the meter is effectively running in reverse.

Nawgati said the app originated from an observation by its Co-founder and CEO Vaibhav Kaushik that CNG cab drivers were losing as much as an hour a day — nearly 10 percent of their working time — while waiting in fuel queues.

Speaking on the milestone, Kaushik said, “This number means more to me than a userbase count. Nawgati started because I watched cab drivers lose nearly an hour a day standing in line, time that came straight out of their earning hours. 3.5 million users of Nawgati tell us that problem was never unique to a handful of drivers I spoke to in Noida; it’s a daily reality for millions across India. Every driver who opens this app before heading to a station is choosing to trust us with a decision that affects their livelihood. That trust is what we’re building on as we take this model beyond India.”

Nawgati was founded in 2019 by Vaibhav Kaushik, Aalaap Nair and Aryan Sisodia. The company says it has since expanded beyond its original consumer-facing information service into what it describes as a full-stack fuel retail data company.

Its broader focus includes using data and technology to help reduce congestion and improve information around fuel availability for motorists and fuel retail operators.

The 3.5 million-user milestone also reflects a wider shift in mobility services, where digital platforms are increasingly being used not only for navigation and payments but also to make routine parts of vehicle ownership more predictable.

For India’s millions of drivers, reducing uncertainty at the fuel station may sound like a modest technological achievement. But when minutes lost in a queue translate into lost trips, delayed deliveries or reduced earnings, knowing where — and when — to refuel can have a measurable impact on the working day.
