Bugatti Rimac has completed a major ownership transition after a consortium led by HOF Capital acquired Porsche’s shareholdings in both Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac, clearing the way for a restructured leadership team and an expanded role for Chief Executive Mate Rimac.
The transaction, first announced in April 2026, involves a consortium led by HOF Capital, with BlueFive Capital as its largest investor alongside other institutional investors from the United States and Europe.
Porsche and Rimac Group established Bugatti Rimac as a joint venture in 2021. Under that structure, Rimac Group held a 55% majority stake while Porsche controlled the remaining 45%. Porsche separately owned a 21% stake in Rimac Group.
With the acquisition now completed, those Porsche shareholdings have transferred to the HOF Capital-led consortium.
“I am really happy that the deal with Porsche and HOF Capital has been completed. Porsche has been a very valuable partner for all these years, enabling us to build strong foundations for the future of the brand. I am really looking forward to our collaboration with HOF Capital, who will be a great asset in executing our long-term vision for the exciting future of Bugatti.”

The ownership change is accompanied by a significant reshuffle at the top of Bugatti Rimac and Bugatti Automobiles.
Mate Rimac, who has served as CEO of Bugatti Rimac since the joint venture was created in 2021, will additionally take over as President of Bugatti Automobiles.
Christophe Piochon will step down as President of Bugatti Automobiles and Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti Rimac.
Marko Brkljačić, formerly Chief Operating Officer at Rimac Technology, is planned to join the Bugatti Rimac leadership team as Chief Operating Officer.
Further executive changes are also planned in the immediate future. Hendrik Malinowski, currently Managing Director of Bugatti Automobiles, is set to be appointed Chief Commercial Officer of the brand.
The restructuring places Mate Rimac even more firmly at the centre of Bugatti’s strategic and operational direction, consolidating the long-term vision established when he became Bugatti Rimac CEO five years ago.
Rimac also acknowledged Piochon’s contribution to Bugatti, where he has spent more than two decades and worked through eras spanning the Veyron to the forthcoming Tourbillon.
“With more than two decades with Bugatti, Christophe has strongly influenced the brand as it stands. From the Veyron to the Tourbillon, he has contributed to build and protect the quality and craftsmanship that define all hyper sports cars leaving Molsheim. On behalf of the entire team at Bugatti Rimac, I want to thank Christophe and wish him every success and take the opportunity to welcome Marko.”

The management transition comes at a consequential point for the French hypercar manufacturer.
Bugatti opened its new La Manufacture production facility in Molsheim in July, while development of the Tourbillon has reached the final stage of its testing programme. Both developments form part of the ten-year vision for Bugatti established under Mate Rimac’s leadership in 2021.
The Tourbillon represents the next major chapter for a marque whose modern history has been shaped by increasingly ambitious engineering projects. With the ownership transition completed, a new executive structure taking shape and production infrastructure expanding in Molsheim, Bugatti Rimac is now entering that chapter with fewer corporate layers — although, in the world of Bugatti, probably no fewer cylinders, engineering meetings or difficult decisions.
For Bugatti, the significance of the transaction extends beyond a change in shareholders. It brings ownership, management and long-term strategy into a new alignment at precisely the moment the company is preparing to turn its next-generation hypercar programme from development into production.
